Immigrant Defenders Law Center (ImmDef) is a next-generation, social justice law firm that provides high-quality representation and legal services to immigrants in Southern California and beyond. ImmDef was founded with the belief that no immigrant should be forced to face an unjust immigration system alone.
ImmDef is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Digital Communications Strategist to lead the creation and amplification of bilingual (English/Spanish) multimedia content that informs, empowers, and uplifts immigrant communities. This role blends creative storytelling with strategic digital execution and crafts rapid-response educational materials, managing brand identity across platforms, and optimizing ImmDef’s digital presence to drive engagement and impact.
Essential Duties:
Collaborate cross-departmentally to produce rapid-response, bilingual (English/Spanish) educational content on immigration law, policy updates, and know-your-rights resources. Research and apply emerging trends and best practices to craft visually stunning, emotionally resonant, and culturally inclusive content. Write bilingual video scripts and talking points; coordinate and prepare staff and client spokespersons for Spanish-language media opportunities and content production. Document ImmDef’s field work, regional coalition events, and client and/or fundraiser events through photography and videography. Digital Optimization and Compliance:
Ensure consistent and compelling brand representation across all digital channels by maintaining brand voice and tone, adhering to visual identity guidelines, developing scalable templates, and evolving branding to reflect strategic priorities. Maintain and enhance ImmDef’s digital presence through AI-powered SEO, targeted ad campaigns, and performance analytics to drive traffic, increase visibility, and improve audience conversion. Provide strategic guidance to ensure all content meets industry standards for transparency, authenticity, and inclusion. Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Marketing, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). Minimum 1–3 years of experience in digital communications, content creation, or multimedia production—preferably in nonprofit, advocacy, or immigration-related work. Proven experience managing bilingual (English/Spanish) content across digital platforms. Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Davinci Resolve, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or Canva. Experience with website management platforms (e.g., Wix, WordPress) and SEO tools (e.g., Google Analytics, SEMrush, AI SEO). Skilled in rapid response photography, videography, and video editing for social media and web. Communication & Writing:
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish required. Strong storytelling ability with a focus on humanizing complex legal and policy issues. Experience writing bilingual scripts, talking points, and educational content for diverse audiences. Compensation:
The range for base pay is $24.00 to $31.00 per hour, depending on experience. Benefits:
