What You’ll Do The Systems Administrator is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of computer systems, networking, virtualization, and cloud platforms. This role ensures that the company’s IT infrastructure, cloud applications and platforms, and end-user systems operate efficiently and securely, troubleshooting issues as they arise and proactively managing upgrades, patches, and system optimizations. The Systems Administrator is also involved in technical projects and efforts, disaster recovery planning, data security, and providing technical support to end-users. This role requires a goal-oriented, agile professional who can think globally and act locally.

What you’ll be working on

System Administration

Install, configure, and maintain servers, networks, systems (both physical and virtual), and/or cloud platforms to ensure maximum uptime and performance.

Monitor and maintain system performance, security, and availability.

Troubleshoot issues as they arise.

Periodically review platforms for upgrades and/or migrations.

Apply patches and updates to maintain the health and security of systems.

Maintain SharePoint and related systems.

Understands and follows change management procedures.

Participate in the after‑hours support rotation.

Network & Security:

Manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network infrastructure (firewalls, routers, switches, etc.).

Ensure security practices are implemented and followed, including firewall management, user access control, and vulnerability assessments.

Understands and can practice server and system hardening.

Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.

Server & Storage Management:

Install and manage servers (on‑prem or cloud based), ensuring availability and optimal performance.

Maintain and manage virtual environments or cloud platforms including provisioning, backups, and performance tuning.

Manage storage solutions, including NAS, SAN, and cloud‑based platforms.

Manage and maintain Box including account management and security.

System Optimization:

Continuously assess and optimize systems for improved efficiency and performance.

Implement automation tooling to streamline repetitive tasks (e.g., PowerShell, Bash scripting).

Perform periodic account assessments; optimize where possible.

Documentation & Reporting:

Create and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps.

Provide regular reporting on system performance, security incidents, and other relevant metrics to management.

Project Planning & Management:

Participate in the planning, execution, and delivery of technical projects and/or business initiatives, including infrastructure upgrades, system implementations, software deployments, cloud platforms, and/or data acquisitions.

Collaborate with IT leadership, project stakeholders, and team members.

Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including status reports and risk management plans.

User Support:

Provide tier‑2 support to internal users by troubleshooting issues related to hardware, software, and/or network access.

Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights in Active Directory or similar identity management platforms.

Excellent diagnostic and problem‑solving skills.

Superior service orientation and communication ability.

Vendor Management:

Work with third‑party vendors for hardware and software procurement, troubleshooting, and support as needed.

Assist with license management, renewals, and software audits to ensure compliance.

Must Haves

5 years’ experience in providing end‑user support in mid‑large business.

A self‑starter ability to multitask, prioritize issues based on severity and work within a team environment.

Approach users’ issues with empathy.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS. Including Azure virtual Desktop and AWS EC2

Experience with automated management and deployment such as Microsoft Intune, ManageEngine.

Ability to learn new technologies quickly and with minimal guidance.

Thrives on technical challenges and takes pride in solving them.

Able to promptly and tactfully communicate with end users, provide solutions and/or direct requests of unresolved issues to appropriate IT team members.

Thorough understanding of hardware setup and software installations including Office 365, and account setup including email accounts, server access, and VPN access.

Outstanding organizational and time‑management skills; you must be comfortable handling periods of high demand and expediting numerous priorities simultaneously.

Good knowledge of cyber security and data privacy principles.

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
