Already a sworn Police Officer? We are excited to announce our new Lateral Hire program! Now offering:

Accelerated hire process for applicants who are already certifiable.

Applicants with previous full-time certified sworn law enforcement experience within the past 12 months are eligible for:

Lateral pay: Pay upon hire that reflects their credited years of prior certified experience.

Lateral Vacation: Vacation accruals that reflect their credited years of prior certified experience.

Advanced Sick Leave: 96 hours of sick leave advancement upon hire.

Premier Training Resources: Our immersive virtual reality training simulator places officers in interactive, real‑life scenarios and allows them to work on skills including de‑escalation techniques, communication, active listening, decision‑making, judgement and problem solving.

Excellent Pay and Benefits: Starting pay of $2590 biweekly, on‑going training and professional development, and a commitment to supporting our staff’s mental health.

Work/Life Balance: One of the most unique and sought‑after aspect of our department is our Patrol Schedule which allows officers to have off at least two weekends each month. The 10‑hour shift creates a better work‑life balance and maximizes officer efficiency and community responsiveness. The 10‑hour work schedule consists of the following rotation: 5 on/4 off, 5 on/4 off, 5 on/5 off.

Qualifications for Hire

Possess a minimum of 15 credits from an accredited college or university. (*Successful applicants must complete the 60‑credit state requirement within their first 5 years of employment.)

Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License at the time of appointment.

Age 20 or older.

U.S. citizenship with no felony or Domestic Abuse related convictions.

Physical fitness is necessary to meet the demands of the job.
