Database Administrator (DBA) II – Richfield, OH
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) II in Richfield, OH. The schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Onsite at Client Facility).
Overview: Our client is seeking a Database Administrator to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of logical and relational databases across multiple platforms, including host‑based, distributed systems, and client/server environments. This role involves working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability of database systems.
Responsibilities
Assist in designing, testing, implementing, and maintaining database systems across various platforms
Monitor performance and ensure adherence to established standards
Support the development of logical database designs and relational models
Assist in establishing policies for database security, maintenance, and utilization
Install and upgrade databases and applications as directed
Create and modify database structures based on application requirements
Support backup and recovery processes, including periodic restore tests
Troubleshoot issues and elevate to vendors as needed
Ensure software version management and end‑of‑life planning align with vendor standards
Manage patch installations and maintain patch logs
Assist with capacity and performance planning and recommend changes as needed
Participate in planning sessions with internal teams to guide technology direction
Support security practices related to access, usage, and privilege management
Collaborate with infrastructure teams on system administration tasks (e.g., backups, memory/CPU planning, disk space, license management)
Maintain and enhance technical expertise in database technologies
Contribute to a culture of respect, teamwork, and integrity
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
6–8 years of experience installing and supporting PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and open‑source database solutions
Strong knowledge of hardware/software issues on Linux/Unix and Microsoft servers
Experience supporting internal and commercial development teams
Proficient in installation, configuration, and maintenance of PostgreSQL databases
Experience with replication (streaming/logical), failover mechanisms, and large dataset management
Skilled in backup strategies (pg_dump, pg_basebackup, pgBackRest) and point‑in‑time recovery
Familiarity with role‑based access control and PostgreSQL extensions
Proficient in scripting (Bash, Python, Perl) for automation
Ability to analyze logs for errors, slow queries, and deadlocks
Experience diagnosing performance issues (memory, disk I/O)
Strong proficiency in Linux environments (e.g., RHEL)
Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and consultative skills
Strong planning, project management, and implementation capabilities
Team‑oriented with a proactive, self‑motivated attitude
Willingness to carry a mobile device and provide off‑hours support
Ability to work in a global environment and travel as needed
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds of equipment

Pay & Benefits Richfield, OH $120,000 – $140,000
