Save Job

About the Role We’re looking for a Data Science Manager to lead insights and data science across Headway’s full patient acquisition and matching funnel — from marketing and discovery through provider matching and retention in care.

In this role, you’ll lead a team of data scientists who uncover insights, drive experimentation, and develop models that guide how patients find care through Headway. You’ll shape the analytics and measurement strategy for how we

attract , convert, and retain patients — and ultimately how we deliver better mental health outcomes at scale.

This is a highly cross-functional role that partners closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Design leaders. The ideal candidate brings both technical rigor and empathy for the patient and provider experience — someone who can translate data into strategic decisions that improve access to care and business performance alike.

This is an opportunity to bring analytical strategy, scientific rigor and empathy to a problem that truly matters — helping people access effective, personalized mental healthcare.

What You’ll Do

Lead and grow a team of data scientists supporting multiple product areas across the patient journey (e.g., acquisition, search, activation, retention).

Deliver high-quality product analytics — diagnose funnel performance, identify leverage points, and surface actionable opportunities for growth.

Partner with Growth and Product to optimize acquisition strategies (SEM/SEO/AEO), evaluate efficiency and quality of leads, and connect early-funnel actions to long-term care outcomes.

Drive experimentation rigor — uplevel standards for test design, causal inference, and statistical reporting, while mentoring PMs and marketers in experimentation literacy.

Develop BI and self-serve analytics capabilities that democratize data and empower teams to make informed decisions.

Scope and guide applied data science initiatives such as conversion prediction and LTV forecasting to improve both patient outcomes and business impact.

Translate complex insights into clear, data-driven recommendations that balance growth efficiency with Headway’s mission to expand access to care.

Influence senior leadership strategy by representing the data perspective across the full patient and provider lifecycle.

What We’re Looking For

6+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or growth analytics roles, with at least 2+ years in people management.

Proven track record leading teams that span

BI, product analytics, and applied data science .

Strong background in

experimentation ; able to both set strategy and coach others.

Hands‑on technical fluency in SQL and Python/R, with experience working with modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, dbt, Looker).

Experience partnering across

marketing and product teams

to optimize full‑funnel performance.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills — able to “translate” technical insights into business impact.

Bonus: experience in predictive modeling for growth/retention, marketing attribution, or LTV modeling.

Why This Role is Exciting

You’ll shape analytics for the

entire customer journey , not just one stage of the funnel.

You’ll build the

bridge between BI, experimentation, and applied DS , ensuring the org moves with both rigor and speed.

You’ll have high visibility with senior leadership and a chance to directly influence strategy and growth.
