The Senior Accountant is responsible for the gathering and analyzing of financial data and for reporting the results of financial transactions. The Senior Accountant uses professional concepts and applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues including accounting determinations and overseeing the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting process. This associate works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. The Senior Accountant exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Responsibilities: Oversees the month-end financial statement close process including creation of the month-end financial statements, reconciliations, and all manual closing journal entries Prepares analysis and reports in the areas of Monthly Actual Net Operating Income Results and Monthly Financial Results including Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Budget vs. Actual Analysis Coordinates with Accounts Payable and Monthly Accrual Process as related to Month End Close Prepares Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations Maintains Department’s Month End Close, Reporting, and Reconciliation Checklists Records Rental Asset HUD Closing Entries Tracks and manages property tax assessments and bills, and monitors trends in tax and assessment changes. Tracks and manages Property and GL Insurance for each asset and monitors trends in insurance rates. Provides Cash Flow Forecasting Data Related to Cash Needs, Debt Draws and Capital Calls. Creates and maintains Debt schedules for Rental Entities Maintains GL for Rental Entities and update AppFolio records Prepares financial statements for all Rental Entities and reconciles their Balance Sheet accounts Updates Juniper Square to record transactions for Assets added, Capital Calls, and Distributions to Investors Works with Banking Partners to secure Rental Debt draws Performs other duties as needed or required Results/Accountability: Completes Month End Close duties as directed in the Closing Checklist Completes Balance Sheet Reconciliations as directed in the Reconciliations Checklist Completes Monthly Financial Reporting as directed in the Reporting Checklist Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required Three to five years of relevant accounting experience including financial analysis, general ledger accounting, monthly closing activities, and reasoning skills required Proficiency in Excel and Power Point required Homebuilding experience preferred CPA or CMA preferred Knowledge of Sage Accounting preferred General Requirements: Excellent attention to detail Strong communication skills, written, and verbal skills Strong organizational skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Comply with all company policies and procedures Demonstrate the qualities and character traits as defined in the True Difference Physical Requirements: Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time Associate needs to occasionally move about the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment
