Job Summary The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator will ensure that all safety and environmental standards are maintained and in compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations as well as Magna Body & Chassis Iowa and Magna policies.
Job Responsibilities
Ensure policies and procedures are consistently applied based on Magna Employee’s Charter and relevant regulations.
Coordinate all safety activities to reduce workplace accidents and protect associates.
Plan and coordinate internal and external safety training for all associates.
Coordinate and attend all meetings of Safety and Ergonomics Committees and set direction for them.
Provide counsel and support to associates and management on health, safety and environmental matters.
Establish and annually update written safety standards and policies.
Evaluate safety and ergonomic issues in workstation design and layout during development.
Maintain statistics to support continuous improvement in workplace safety.
Review accident/incident investigation reports and lead corrective actions.
Analyze loss control statistics using root cause analysis and recommend improvements.
Coordinate selection of PPE and appropriate fit testing in collaboration with purchasing.
Conduct monthly safety and environmental audits and report results.
Advocate for associate safety and environmental concerns and resolve issues timely.
Encourage safety and housekeeping practices, leading by example.
Support drug testing policy and procedures.
Follow Magna Body & Chassis Iowa and Magna operating principles.
Education and Experience
Post secondary education in safety engineering or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.
Three to five years experience in health, safety and environmental field in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Team player promoting a team approach to problem solving.
Highly self‑motivated and flexible to changing priorities.
Able to work under pressure with short completion times on projects.
Intermediate computer skills for processing reports, charts, training and documents.
Maintain confidentiality and use discretion and tact.
Show high integrity and honesty.
Present information effectively and respond to questions from various groups.
Good organizational skills for managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
