Principal Reliability Engineer - ADN RAMP Team

The ADN RAMP Team
(Rapid Access to Medicines for Patients) is a cross-functional team that provides deep manufacturing expertise to support site start-ups through operational excellence, rapid troubleshooting, and surge capacity resources. This team enables members to work at new sites, expand the Lilly network, develop technical and leadership skills, and help other new sites start up faster to accelerate Lilly’s mission.
Success in this role involves supporting sites through startup via direct technical execution, coaching, collaboration, and developing local technical and operational teams to reach full operation readiness. The team reports through their functions and is coordinated by the Ramp Team Sr. Director.
Key Objectives/Deliverables
Provide reliability engineering support to the Global Facility Delivery team and the Site Engineering team, focusing on safe, right-first-time delivery and on-time facility start-up through application of engineering fundamentals.
Partner with the site engineering team to support operational readiness, commissioning & qualification (C&Q) tasks, on-floor process support, document reviews, deviation investigations, change controls, and asset delivery details (e.g., maintenance packages and maintenance strategies).
Coach and develop local technical team capabilities to accelerate operational excellence and technical skills.
Apply root cause analysis techniques to investigate system and equipment issues and deliver robust and sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
Monitor, assess, and document equipment performance to maintain ongoing qualification of assets.
Maintain the basis of safety for facility and utilities equipment and systems.
Assist in long-term asset management deliverables including maintenance plans, troubleshooting guides, condition monitoring equipment applications/installations, and ongoing monitoring plans for these types of equipment and systems.
Basic Requirements
BS degree in Engineering or related science field.
Minimum 2-3 years of experience required, preferably in pharmaceutical API/Dry Products Manufacturing.
Deep technical understanding of facility, utility, and process equipment and systems.
Deep technical understanding of manufacturing operational excellence principles.
Additional Skills/Preferences
Technical knowledge of utility generating equipment such as boilers, chillers, towers, air compressors, HVAC units, hot water skids, pumping systems, and other rotating equipment.
Technical knowledge of fluid system fundamentals such as pumping, pressure control, flow control, and associated monitoring instrumentation.
Ability to navigate CMMS (GMARS) to facilitate asset implementation.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Collaborative skills with operations, QA, other engineering groups and team members.
Ability to coach others.
Ability to influence without authority.
Ability to clarify and simplify complex issues.
Strong trust building with peers and leaders.
Willing to work off-shift hours as needed to support project milestones and training of new employees.
Other Information The ADN RAMP team will support multiple new API/Dry Products sites in various locations (US and OUS). Significant travel may be required to current startup sites to meet business needs, along with potential short-term assignments across the network, including international relocations. Candidates must be mobile and flexible.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and location. Anticipated wage for this position is $64,500 - $167,200. Full-time employees are eligible for a company bonus and Lilly offers a comprehensive benefits program including 401(k), pension, medical/dental/vision, flexible benefits, life insurance, vacation benefits, and well-being programs. Lilly reserves the right to amend compensation and benefit programs at its discretion.
