Responsible for teaching Food Science courses and effectively leading discussions and planning instruction, activities, assignments, projects, and assessments covering the state standards for this course. The Teacher will provide comprehensive instruction on the following concepts: Meaning of Food Science and Management How food provides and produces energy Food Physics Principles of Food Microbiology Food Chemistry Nutrition as related to food Basic nutrients and their specific properties related to food science Basic food science principles Experiments in Food Science Careers in food science The Teacher will develop a curriculum that engages students in the exploration of food science, fostering their understanding of the basic concepts and application of food science principles. They will create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and hands-on experience. Physical Demands:
This role may involve light physical activities such as standing, walking, and occasional lifting of instructional materials. Attendance is an essential function of this job opportunity. Certifications (helpful but not required):
Relevant certifications in food science, nutrition, or related fields Job Qualifications:
Valid teaching license or relevant endorsement in Food Science or a related field Demonstrated expertise and experience in Food Science or a related field Proficiency in teaching and curriculum development Strong knowledge of state standards and their application to instruction Familiarity with food physics, microbiology, chemistry, and nutrition Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and motivate students Weber School District is an equal opportunity employer.
