Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Contracts Professional level 3 (Principal Contracts Administrator) or Contracts Professional level 4 (Sr. Principal Contracts Administrator) to join its team of qualified and diverse individuals supporting its Strategic Deterrent Systems Division. The preferred location for this position is Manhattan Beach, CA.
The successful candidate will support the large, complex, high-profile Sentinel Program (otherwise known as Ground Based Strategic Deterrent, or GBSD), working closely on a day-to-day basis with Managers, Directors, Vice Presidents, rocket scientists, and engineers. Sentinel is in the development stage and is intended to modernize the ground‑based leg of the Nation’s strategic nuclear triad. At a current contract value of over $13B, Sentinel represents one of the largest and most high‑profile Northrop Grumman programs, with countless career and growth opportunities.
Roles And Responsibilities
Act as primary interface with the customer for contractual issues.
Monitor the contract and the associated program to ensure that contractual obligations are communicated and understood.
Participate in contract proposal preparation, contract negotiations, contract administration including contract change management, and customer contract activities to manage assigned contract(s) in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer requirements.
Work under general supervision to develop solutions to both routine and complex contractual matters to ensure company compliance with contract requirements on assigned program(s).
Ensure fulfillment of contract requirements, manage contract changes, and maintain historical information.
Review terms and conditions to address wording/requirements and risks of financial terms, acceptance criteria, delivery requirements, warranty, intellectual property, termination provisions, indemnification and other potential risk areas and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
Prepare and manage written communications with internal and external customers for assigned contractual matters.
Enter and maintain contract data into Contract Management System and/or Enterprise Accounting System.
Ensure timely delivery of all contractual deliverables and submission of invoices.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with 5 years in Contracts, Procurement Administration, or related professional experience; a Master’s degree with 3 years; a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 9 years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree (Sr. Principal level requires 8 years with a Bachelor’s; 6 years with a Master’s; or 12 years with a High School Diploma).
Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) including contract administration, acquisition and pricing principles.
Experience with various contract types, including cost and other incentive type contracts as well as fixed price, Time and Materials, etc.
Experience interpreting and working changes/modifications to US Government contracts and other contractual type of documents, e.g., non‑disclosure agreements, memorandums of agreement, teaming agreements and similar documents.
Experience with Microsoft 365.
US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret level security clearance and Special Program Access (SAP).
Preferred Qualifications
Active DoD Secret or Top‑Secret security clearance.
Extensive experience in construction contracting, particularly in US Government contracts for construction, architect‑engineer, including Department of Defense (DoD) military construction (MILCON) contracting.
Experience in performing contract administration on Department of Defense Major Defense Acquisition Programs (MDAP), particularly in the Engineering and Manufacturing Development and Production phases.
Extensive proposal and negotiation experience.
Extensive experience with and knowledge of U.S. Government acquisition regulations including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).
Knowledge of Department of the Air Force Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DAFFARS).
Certification(s) in contracting, e.g., Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting – Professional (FAC‑C), and/or National Contract Management Association (NCMA) such as Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM), and/or ECTAC Certification (Northrop Grumman Enterprise Contracts Training & Certification).
Familiarity with Northrop Grumman contracts processes and procedures.
Active Federal US Government or DoD Secret or Top‑Secret security clearance.
Master’s degree, law degree or paralegal experience.
Strong technology acumen in Microsoft 365.
Be a self‑starter, actively pursue problem resolution and obtain needed coordination with stakeholders.
Ability to work individually and in teams.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.

Salary Primary Level Salary Range: $91,200.00 – $136,800.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $113,500.00 – $170,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
