Reliability Engineer – JLL
What this job involves The Reliability Engineer will focus on driving operational excellence by applying efficient technologies and advanced preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to building systems such as HVAC, utilities, lighting, and power. This role aims to reduce operational costs, enhance asset reliability, and improve return on investment across the facility site. It requires a blend of technical proficiency, strategic thinking, and innovative problem‑solving to optimize system performance and support continuous improvement.
What your day‑to‑day will look like
Develop and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to equipment reliability, including planned vs. unplanned work, MTBF, cost metrics, and equipment failure rates.
Administer Predictive Maintenance (PdM) programs such as infrared thermography, vibration analysis, and oil monitoring. Responsibilities include PM creation, data review, and corrective action tracking.
Conduct root cause analyses on equipment and process failures, identifying actionable solutions.
Engage with maintenance teams, leadership, and clients to understand operational needs and provide data‑driven recommendations.
Utilize BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) to create dashboards and reports that visualize maintenance performance and key metrics.
Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, inspections, and third‑party contractor work.
Assist in developing condition‑based strategies for critical assets including AHUs, chillers, boilers, and air compressors to improve uptime and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial preferred).
Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering roles with a focus on Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Predictive Maintenance (PdM), and asset management.
Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance strategies across HVAC, chiller plants, air compressors, boilers, and similar systems.
Experience with root cause analysis methodologies (5 Whys, Fishbone, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Equipment Criticality Ranking, etc.).
Familiarity with predictive technologies: vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasound.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate across technical and non‑technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and CMMS platforms.
Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics.
Experience in regulated or critical environments (e.g., data centers, manufacturing, laboratories, pharmaceuticals, etc.).
Advanced Excel skills and experience managing large datasets.
Experience in facilities or plant management environments.
Location & Work Shift On‑site. Day shift (Monday through Friday).
On‑site locations: Chesterfield, MO; Creve Coeur, MO.
