The Opportunity The Azure Cloud Engineer (FinOps) is part of the Cloud team and will analyze and optimize the financial aspects of an organization’s spend on cloud resources. You will ensure the cost management of cloud resources, maintain the operational Azure cloud environment, perform infrastructure deployments, and ensure the production environment is operating securely and efficiently using automation tools. You will collaborate with stakeholders, promote awareness of costs involved in cloud consumption, partner with other cloud team members, and report to the Cloud Platform Team Leader.
The Day-to-Day
Improve cost usage across the cloud environment.
Establish cost‑effective strategies for cloud resources and enforce policies, procedures and best practices for cloud cost management.
Produce cost reports and develop cost‑saving options.
Work with partners and teams to ensure compliance with governance policies.
Educate and train cloud users on cloud cost management and optimization practices.
Conduct deep‑dive analysis on cloud spend data to support decision‑making.
Create and maintain generic cost‑management dashboards for business.
Deploy enterprise‑scaled resources across technology organizations.
Deploy scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure using automation tooling for routine operation tasks.
Manage the implementation and ongoing operation of cloud services following approved designs, security requirements and ensuring logging/monitoring are active for security and compliance.
Use automation, configuration management and deployment tools to manage production environment ensuring standardization and adherence to established controls and patterns.
Work with solution architects and partners to confirm developed solutions align with existing standards and meet security controls.
Enhance existing deployment processes and IaC scripts to improve automation, efficiency, consistency and adherence to security and audit requirements.
Maintain comprehensive configuration, lifecycle and security management of servers.
Deploy cloud services and toolsets applying best practices and documentation.
Serve as the main contact for business application owners, bridging them and the cloud team.
Foster the use of the cloud environment and deployments.
Collaborate with other cloud engineers, architects, application and business owners to deploy and improve the cloud environment.
Implement or suggest IaC and CI/CD strategies for faster, secure deployments.
Escalate unresolved issues appropriately.
Collaborate with engineers, providing assistance, guidance and training.
Participate in team activities such as daily stand‑ups, peer code reviews, design collaboration efforts and rotating on‑call process.
Provide international and 24/7 support via on‑call duties and/or flexible off‑hours schedule for planned and unplanned maintenance.
Your Qualifications
5+ years of experience deploying resources and managing infrastructure through manual and automated pipelines in an IT infrastructure & operational environment.
5+ years of experience maintaining resources in cross‑platform environments.
3+ years of experience in Azure cloud deployments using IaC.
3+ years of experience deploying resources using Terraform.
3+ years of experience using GitHub and GitHub Actions.
3+ years of experience building, deploying and managing public cloud IaaS and PaaS services.
3+ years of experience building automated cloud infrastructure across multiple Production and Non‑Production environments.
3+ years of experience scripting and automating builds, workflows, tasks and other integration aspects.
2+ years of experience with Azure Cost Management tools.
2+ years of experience using CI/CD pipelines.
2+ years of experience using YAML/YML for GitHub actions.
2+ years of experience with Azure CLI.
2+ years of experience troubleshooting Azure cloud environment.
Experience with DNS, LAN, WAN, firewalls, file systems and IAM.
Experience automating deployments.
Experience with enterprise applications development.
Knowledge of PowerShell.
Bachelor’s degree in MIS, computer science, or a related field.
