Position Overview The Clinical Supervisor, RN in the Intermediate/Progressive Care Unit, plays a vital role in managing daily unit operations while providing exceptional patient care. This leader supports the team's professional development, ensures adherence to clinical protocols, and fosters a collaborative environment to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily clinical and operational activities of the Intermediate/Progressive Care Unit.

Act as a mentor and resource to nursing staff, supporting their professional growth and performance improvement.

Ensure compliance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality patient care and achieve unit goals.

Address and resolve patient or staff concerns in a timely and effective manner.

Participate in staff scheduling, performance evaluations, and hiring processes.

Monitor and analyze unit metrics to implement performance improvement initiatives.

Maintain an active presence on the unit to support staff and provide guidance.

About GW Hospital The George Washington University Hospital is a 395-bed tertiary care, academic medical center located in downtown Washington, DC. Featuring a Level I Trauma Center and a Level III NICU, GW Hospital offers clinical expertise in a variety of areas, including cardiac, cancer, neurosciences, women's health, and advanced surgery.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.

Licensure: Active and unencumbered RN license in the state of Washington, D.C. (or ability to obtain prior to start).

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience in a Progressive Care or Intermediate Care setting.

Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required; Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) certification preferred.

Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
