The Elections Project develops and advances durable bipartisan policy solutions to create secure, accessible, and trustworthy elections. Our work is guided by the idea that election policy must be resilient to shifting political winds and crafted with input from election officials. Roles And Responsibilities

The Senior Policy Analyst will play a central role in the development and implementation of the Elections Project’s research and advocacy priorities. Responsibilities include focusing on election administration workforce (recruitment, retention, and training), election infrastructure and technology, and supporting the needs of local election official associations. The analyst may explore additional topics aligned with project and BPC needs. The position requires experienced policy researchers and writers who can produce white papers, blogs, research memos, or legislation, and who can communicate research to diverse audiences. The role reports to the Senior Associate Director of the Elections Project and works with others on BPC’s elections team. Specific responsibilities include: Conduct research and draft reports, blogs, white papers, explainers, and other written deliverables on election administration issues. Maintain understanding of legislative and policy developments in 4–6 states. Work with junior team members, including delegating parts of larger research projects as appropriate. Develop and/or oversee internal and external meeting agendas; facilitate meetings representing BPC Elections and its policy priorities to diverse audiences. Develop and maintain a network of key stakeholders (e.g., election administrators, peer organizations, funders, state and local government representatives). Qualifications

Research, writing, and relevant skills Strong writing skills across formats (short articles, long reports, policy briefs, memos). Writing samples required; a short writing assignment may be part of the interview process. Experience with policy research, advocacy, or legislation. Experience in election policy research or advocacy is advantageous; candidates with other policy areas involving state and local government are considered. Proficiency with data manipulation and analysis (e.g., Excel). Experience with data analysis, modeling, programming, or web scraping is a plus. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills; experience in advocacy or working with government officials is a plus. Experience managing projects from inception to execution, including timelines, task delegation, and deliverables. Professional qualities Independent yet collaborative; ability to work autonomously and seek guidance as needed. Attention to detail; able to document methodology and ensure assertions are evidence-based. Commitment to continuous improvement; able to contribute to team processes and provide constructive feedback. Positive energy; able to work in a demanding, high-profile environment. Educational And Work Experience Bachelor’s degree required; preferred majors include government, public policy, political science, or related fields. Advanced degree is a bonus. 4 or more years of relevant work experience preferred. Application Process Individuals should submit a resume, a cover letter, and three references in one document. Additional benefits include 403(b) matching contributions up to 7% of salary, a 2% non-elective contribution after 90 days, vacation, personal, sick days, holidays, education benefits, professional development funds, metro benefits, life insurance, dental and vision coverage, and a Flexible Spending Plan. The base salary range is $70,000 – $95,000. Salary decisions consider a range of factors including skill set, experience, training, education, and organizational needs.
