Environmental Project Manager – Investigation & Remediation
(NYC | In‑Office)
Lead complex environmental projects with a specialized consulting firm focused on investigation, remediation, and regulatory compliance. This full‑time, in‑office role based in NYC offers leadership responsibility, technical depth, and long‑term career growth.
About the Role You’ll manage 4–5 projects simultaneously, leading teams through environmental due diligence, field investigations, and remediation efforts. Responsibilities include scope development, budgeting, client communication, regulatory compliance, mentoring junior staff, and coordinating subcontractors and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments, RIWPs, RAPs, and mitigation strategies
Manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables
Prepare technical reports, proposals, scopes of work, and cost estimates
Oversee field investigations and remediation implementation
Communicate regularly with clients, regulators, and internal teams
Mentor junior staff and manage subcontractor performance
Ensure compliance with NYSDEC regulations, BCP, and spill response protocols
Qualifications
10–15 years of experience in environmental consulting
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, or related field
Advanced degree and PE/P.G. license preferred
Strong experience with soil, groundwater, vapor intrusion, and impacted media
Proficiency in report writing, budgeting, and project coordination
Knowledge of NYSDEC regulations and Brownfield Cleanup Program
Certifications: OSHA 40‑Hour HAZWOPER, SST; PMP, CHMM a plus
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Work Environment & Benefits
In‑office: 5 days/week
Fieldwork: ~20% of the time (up to 40% during peak season)
