Seagate Technology We are seeking to fill an engineering position on the reader process development team. Our team’s mission is to develop new processes and evaluate new materials for state-of-the-art thin film magnetic recording head technology. Specifically, the design and development of novel read transducers within the thin film recording head, utilizing many of the same techniques and methodologies employed in nanoscale semiconductor manufacturing. About You
Work effectively within both small and large teams, while taking initiative and executing on independent tasks to generate results Familiarity and experience with thin film dielectric processing and characterization is critical Talented engineer with a broad engineering background, a deeper understanding of vacuum deposition and etch processing Learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities Communication of results and issues effectively within our team, as well as collaborating well with other support, process and design groups Your Experience Includes
Experience in thin film vacuum deposition, plasma etch, and/or ion mill. Previous experience with the characterization and development of magnetic and/or dielectric materials, especially for nano-scale devices Familiarity or background in magnetics and/or magnetic materials is desired though no previous experience in magnetic recording technology is required PhD degree in engineering related field (i.e. Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Computer Engineering, Materials, Physics, or Information Technology) About Our Group

Develop new best in class vacuum deposition, plasma etch, and ion mill processes for future transducer designs Evaluate and optimize new magnetic and dielectric materials Provide support for the reader development team on critical processes Maintain baseline processes for our latest designs Investigation of root cause process failure Design and coordinate critical experiments and provide in depth data analysis Location & Compensation
Location: Normandale, United States — Edina and Bloomington campus The estimated base salary range for this position is $92,310.00 - $131,994.00. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Benefits
