St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School seeks a passionate and talented Music Director
to lead the musical direction of our school’s Drama Club productions. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop their musical and performance abilities while supporting a joyful, faith‑based environment that celebrates the arts and community.
Role Description This is a Part‑Time on‑site role for an SFA Drama Club Music Director, located in Bronx, NY. The Music Director will be responsible for overseeing and directing musical aspects of drama productions, including teaching music theory and performance to students, coordinating music rehearsals, and ensuring high‑quality music production. The role also involves collaborating with other staff members and contributing to the overall success of the drama club's performances.
Responsibilities
Teach and rehearse vocal music with student performers for school musical productions and showcases.
Collaborate with the Drama Director, choreographer, and production team to align music with staging and choreography.
Arrange, adapt, and direct music suitable for elementary and middle school performers.
Accompany rehearsals and performances (piano preferred) or coordinate with accompanists.
Guide students in developing musicality, confidence, and ensemble performance skills.
Assist with sound design, cues, and coordination of live or recorded accompaniment.
Uphold the school’s mission and values through the integration of creativity, teamwork, and faith.
Qualifications
Ability to sight‑read music and play the piano or keyboard.
Able to conduct a live band or orchestra.
Proficiency in Music Theory and Music Education.
Experience in Music Production.
Familiarity with Church Music and music performance techniques.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work on‑site in Bronx, NY.
Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field.
Prior experience directing school or community drama or music programs is a plus.
