Special Events & Fundraising Volunteer Program Coordinator who will plan, coordinate and implement successful events, in collaboration with staff and volunteer leadership, to raise funds for and promote community awareness of Red Cross services. Develop and execute plans to identify, cultivate, solicit, and recognize event underwriters/sponsors and other event participants. Serve as the regional development team’s first point of contact for community inquiries, responding as appropriate via phone and written correspondence. Provide staff support for relevant committees and leadership guidance to all volunteers. Manage the engagement of volunteers through regular communications, appreciation events, and collaboration with staff. Provide administrative support for the fundraising leadership team through coordination of special projects, department meetings and other duties as assigned. Perform all duties in compliance with standard operating procedures and applicable regulations. Key Responsibilities
Research, identify, cultivate, and solicit new and existing donors for monetary and/or in-kind gifts to support special events. Recognize potential for increased donor involvement and capitalize on opportunities to grow relationships. Identify event sponsors for enhanced partnerships and create a positive donor experience. Develop working relationships with donors, volunteers, government and foundation representatives to nurture connections to the Red Cross. Coordinate with internal communications and marketing groups for strategies and materials when needed. Provide leadership and guidance to assigned event chairs and committees. Act as the primary staff liaison to volunteer committees for assigned events and support chairs and committees to secure sponsors and participants. Create and collaborate on event project plans, participate in budget development, monitor outcomes (revenue and expenses), and drive growth of the special event program. Manage event logistics, vendor relationships, and overall production; assess outcomes and recommend improvements. Responsible for meeting revenue goals. Collaborate with Communications and Marketing to develop materials related to events including media releases and photo sessions. Direct the work of special event volunteers or staff on administrative duties including donor invoices, acknowledgments, mailings, event support, and related tasks. May hire, train, coach, counsel and evaluate volunteers or provide significant recommendations on supervisory actions. Identify department needs for volunteer support and build capacity through recruitment, training and development of fundraising volunteers. Assist with onboarding of new fundraising department volunteers and supervise new volunteers as applicable. Provide administrative support for the fundraising leadership team, including the Chief Development Officer and Director of Development, which may include special initiatives, donor materials, department meetings and other duties as assigned. What You Need to Succeed
Education: Associate's Degree or equivalent required. Experience: Minimum 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Management Experience: N/A Skills & Abilities: Leadership with interpersonal, verbal, listening and written communication skills. Ability to work with diverse groups, network with the community, work in teams, resolve conflicts and manage multiple priorities. Proficient with basic PC software and database applications. Ability to work under deadlines and with donors, volunteers, staff, and committees. Travel: May travel to participate in meetings and conferences within the regional jurisdiction, state and Red Cross system. Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee may reach with hands and arms, and may occasionally stand, walk, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 30 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The work environment is typical office with moderate noise. The employee must be able to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods. Preferred Qualifications
