Description
The Leidos Digital Modernization Sector is looking for an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer who excels in networking and infrastructure automation. This hands-on role is fully remote, and we seek a candidate who is proactive, focused on execution, and capable of collaborating across teams to deliver secure, scalable, and efficient cloud infrastructure solutions.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and manage Azure infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, identity, and governance through Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Architect and configure Azure virtual networks (VNets), network security groups (NSGs), ExpressRoute, VPN gateways, private endpoints, and load balancers.
Optimize hybrid cloud connectivity, ensuring performance, redundancy, and security compliance between on-premises and Azure environments.
Manage Azure Firewall, Application Gateway, and Azure Front Door configurations for secure application delivery.
Automate provisioning and configuration using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates integrated with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
Collaborate with application and security teams to uphold zero trust and network segmentation principles.
Troubleshoot and optimize DNS, routing, latency, and firewall rules across hybrid environments.
Support performance monitoring and optimization via Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Network Watcher.
Ensure compliance with security frameworks such as DoD/NIST, FedRAMP, or enterprise security frameworks where applicable.
Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Management Design, deploy, and manage virtual server infrastructures across hybrid environments.
Maintain and enhance virtualization platforms, including VMware ESXi and Hyper-V.
Employ Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible for deployment automation.
Cloud Environment Support Cooperate with cross-functional teams to provision and manage cloud resources across platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Monitor cloud resource usage to ensure efficiency and scalability.
Troubleshoot and analyze root causes to resolve system and application issues.
DevSecOps Integration Operate within a DEVSECOPS framework to ensure infrastructure compliance with security and operational standards.
Facilitate CI/CD pipelines and integrate infrastructure automation into the development workflow.
Implement containerization and orchestration solutions like Docker and Kubernetes for microservices.
Performance Optimization and Monitoring Configure and maintain tools to ensure system availability and performance.
Identify and apply improvements to enhance system efficiency and uptime.
Security and Compliance Apply security best practices to safeguard hybrid cloud infrastructures, including IAM and encryption.
Assist in security audits and compliance efforts.
Collaboration and Support Provide tier-2/3 support for escalated issues, collaborating with internal and external teams.
Document procedures and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing.
Mentor junior engineers and engage in team development initiatives.
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 6+ years of experience, or equivalent experience may substitute for a degree.
A minimum of 10 years in Azure Cloud Engineering or related Cloud Infrastructure roles.
Holding at least one of the following certifications is required:
Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ-700) Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) Must be a US Citizen with a current active DoD Secret clearance.
Strong expertise in Azure networking technologies.
Proficiency in IaC tools like Terraform or Bicep.
Comprehensive understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP and BGP.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with Azure security and identity management.
Experience with network integration technologies such as SASE, ZScaler, or Cloudflare.
Basic knowledge of Kubernetes networking and containerization.
Understanding of security frameworks (NIST, CIS).
Excellent problem-solving skills in hybrid environments.
Strong documentation and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills and Certifications: Additional industry certifications like VMware VCP or Kubernetes CKA.
Knowledge of security frameworks such as RMF or NIST 800-53.
Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell.
Experience with log management tools like Splunk or ELK stack.
