Job Description The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date financial records through the preparation and reconciliation of general ledger accounts and journal entries. This position also provides support for daily banking activities, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, inventory processing, and monthly sales tax filings. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, a commitment to meeting deadlines, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal departments.
Key Responsibilities
Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare recurring and adjusting journal entries.
Record and process daily banking activity, including customer cash payments.
Support payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory processing as needed.
Maintain and balance intercompany accounts and perform related reconciliations.
Record month‑end entries for payroll, accruals, and inventory adjustments.
Manage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, and monthly depreciation.
Prepare and reconcile sales and use tax liabilities and assist with monthly filings.
Assist with the preparation of audit lead schedules and respond to auditor inquiries.
Record reclassification entries resulting from management review.
Support the preparation of personal property declarations and related filings.
Qualifications Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
Experience
2–4 years of accounting experience preferred, ideally in a general accounting or staff accountant role.
Experience with general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and tax filings.
Familiarity with ERP or accounting software systems and Microsoft Excel.
Skills and Abilities
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices (GAAP).
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross‑departmental collaboration.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
