Lead Systems Engineer

focused on large-scale migration and operations supporting a critical Department of Defense contract. This role is pivotal in providing enterprise-wide IT support to enhance the delivery of IT services and mission capabilities. The Lead Systems Engineer will be responsible for deploying and maintaining Windows and Linux servers, as well as enhancing and supporting cloud infrastructure and day-to-day troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise in managing the full lifecycle of Linux and Windows platforms as code. You will employ automation to streamline building and patching of these systems while collaborating with various teams to resolve issues across different environments. Clearance Requirement: Active DoD TS/SCI

Primary Responsibilities Deliver engineering support adhering to best practices for cloud environments.

Provide Tier 3/Tier 4 support, diagnosing and analyzing technical challenges to meet user needs effectively.

Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and validate requirements for server environments, anticipating future trends.

Research, test, and implement security patches and configuration changes for vulnerability mitigation.

Troubleshoot and maintain complex IT systems while supporting daily operational needs.

Automate processes using scripting to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Foster a balance between operational activities and testing procedures in network engineering.

Create detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintain technical documentation.

Document technical findings and feedback for continuous improvement initiatives.

Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 8 years of experience, or a Master's degree with at least 6 years of experience.

Proven skills in building and maintaining Windows/Linux Servers using Ansible or similar automation tools.

Strong understanding of deploying systems in virtual and containerized environments.

Experience with Azure Cloud Services.

Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, routing, and firewalls.

Hands-on experience analyzing system logs to troubleshoot issues.

Exceptional problem-solving capabilities in complex technical environments.

Experience in creating and managing system documentation and SOPs.

Highly effective communication skills, both written and oral.

Current IAT Level II or higher certification such as Security+ or CISSP.

Must possess Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Preferred Qualifications Experience with Infrastructure as Code and delivering IaaS server platforms.

Experience in deploying Azure Virtual Desktop environments using automation tools.

Familiarity with Azure Blueprints, Azure Functions, and CI/CD toolsets for delivering automation.

Proven success in deploying and managing complex infrastructure architectures.

Recognized cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect.

Experience with on-premises data center solutions and hyperconverged infrastructures.

Knowledge of data center best practices, including power management and environmental controls.

Pay Range: Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00 The Leidos pay range for this job level serves as a guideline and is not a guaranteed salary.
