Job Overview :
The Senior Central Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontamination, assembly of instrument sets, operation of steam and Sterrad sterilization as well as all monitoring processes included with same. Maintain adequate inventory for assembly of instruments and equipment. Perform multiple tasks that assist in the daily operation of all units as well as being responsible for customer service. Responsible for orienting new employees on the computerized tracking system.
Qualifications :
Required:
High School Diploma or GED
2 years minimum of progressive certified sterile processing technician experience
Preferred
: Graduate from an approved Central Supply Program Preceptor/coaching experience Certifications and Licenses Required : CRCST- Certified Registered Central Service Technician throughIAHCSMM or CBSPD Scheduling Requirements : Day shift Full Time Essential Functions : Use PPE in the appropriate fashion in all areas Follows incident reporting procedures Participates in expediting the OR schedule, such as, but not limited to obtaining instrumentation necessary for the procedure in a timely manner Orients and precepts new employees in all areas of Central Sterile Processing Able to lead the Central Processing Team in the absence of the Manager or Supervisor Utilizes critical thinking skills to prioritize and perform tasks Perform and participate in the decontamination and cleaning of all instrumentation received, which includes and not limited to instrumentation and equipment received from all units according to established standards and procedures Prepare case carts and trays for decontamination and load them into a washer and/or sterilizer as prescribed procedure Perform the operation of the index washers, cart washers, ultrasonic cleaners as well as manually cleaning instruments and equipment as prescribed by established standards and procedures Disassemble, clean, assemble and test patient care equipment for proper functioning route cleaned equipment to appropriate holding area Experts on cleaning and assembling trays/instruments for all Services including Neurosurgery, Orthopedics and Robotics, General Surgery, Vascular, Urology, Spine, ENT and all other service lines and user units Other duties as assigned Benefits and Perks : At RWJBarnabas Health, our market-competitive Total Rewards package provides comprehensive benefits and resources to support our employees’ physical, emotional, social, and financial health.
