FABRICATION SHOP MANAGER – DEVENS MA Mount Kemble Search Group, the direct hire division of CoWorx Staffing, is working with a top client in the Devens MA area, seeking an experienced, results‑driven Fabrication Shop Manager to oversee daily manufacturing and fabrication operations. This role is responsible for managing production schedules, maintaining quality and safety standards, and implementing process improvements to ensure optimal performance and on‑time project delivery. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, hands‑on fabrication expertise, and a proven track record in optimizing resources within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. The role will manager 8 direct reports, so communication and leadership skills are essential.
Responsibilities
Lead and oversee daily shop operations, including welding, machining, and assembly activities.
Supervise fabrication teams to ensure adherence to documented processes, quality standards, and industry specifications, including stainless steel frames, process piping, and vessels.
Develop detailed production schedules, time estimates, and documentation for work requests, and serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders.
Manage material control forms, engineering change orders, and related tasks.
Manage material inventory, equipment maintenance, and workflow for maximum efficiency.
Ensure compliance with quality control standards, technical specifications, and safety protocols, including OSHA regulations.
Work with Principal Fabricator to help train, mentor, and develop fabrication staff and to foster a collaborative, high‑performance, and safety‑focused culture.
Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, and project management teams to align shop activities with company objectives.
Monitor budgets, control costs, and identify opportunities for process improvements.
Maintain annual equipment budgets and preventive maintenance programs to ensure operational readiness and efficiency.
Desired Background/Skills
Minimum of 8 years of experience in fabrication or manufacturing, with at least 4 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Strong technical knowledge of fabrication processes, equipment, and industry standards.
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical documentation.
Knowledge of orbital and hand TIG welding methods, including quality control per ASME‑BPE standards.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
Familiarity with shop management or ERP software preferred.
