AI Platform Engineer The AI Platform Engineer plays a key role in architecting, optimizing, and enabling cloud environments to support enterprise‑scale AI platforms. As a senior technical leader, you will drive platform excellence, mentor other engineers, and influence cloud strategy across the organization. Your impact will be experienced through the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud foundation, empowering teams to deliver innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Architect and optimize cloud environments for reliability, scalability, and security.
Define and implement platform enablement strategies, reusable patterns, and automation frameworks.
Establish and enforce cloud governance, security controls, and compliance standards.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering continuous improvement.
Lead resolution of complex platform issues, including root cause analysis and long‑term remediation.
Align cloud platform capabilities with business and product goals through cross‑functional collaboration.
Support AI teams by guiding data scientists and ML engineers on platform best practices and production deployment.
Evaluate emerging technologies and drive adoption of cloud engineering best practices.
Develop onboarding materials, technical documentation, and training resources for platform users.
Requirements
8+ years of experience in cloud engineering, with a strong background in architecting and operating cloud environments at scale.
Deep expertise in cloud architecture, services, and security, with a proven track record of successful implementations.
Mastery of Terraform and related automation tools; experience with Ansible and Git.
Advanced experience in DevSecOps, zero‑touch automation, and shift‑left security practices.
Expert‑level understanding of cloud networking, security principles, and compliance frameworks.
Advanced proficiency in Linux (RHEL) and strong Python skills for automation and tooling.
Demonstrated leadership in technical initiatives, mentoring, and cross‑functional collaboration.
Familiarity with agentic systems and emerging AI protocols such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent2Agent (A2A).
Knowledge of data engineering, including data pipelines, MLOps tools, and ETL/ELT processes.
Visa Sponsorship The AI Platform Engineer position is currently not eligible for employment visa sponsorship (e.g., H‑1B visa). This includes, for example, situations where a candidate may have temporary work authorization while enrolled in school or upon graduation (e.g., CPT, OPT) but would need H‑1B visa sponsorship within a few years of employment in order to maintain employment eligibility.
Location This position has a hybrid work from home schedule with a minimum of three days per week in the office at the new Zions Technology Center in Midvale, UT.
