Job Summary
A Critical Care/Trauma Physician providing specialized nocturnal ICU care for advanced heart failure and cardiac surgery patients, managing complex critical care interventions such as intubation, ventilation, and hemodynamic monitoring. This role supports a growing 28‑bed cardiac ICU with a 7‑on/7‑off 12‑hour night shift schedule, working alongside multidisciplinary teams including cardiologists and advanced practice providers.
Lee Health has an exciting opportunity for a Critical Care Nocturnist that will support our Advanced Heart Failure program and Cardiac service lines.
Responsibilities The right candidate will be competent in all aspects of critical care medicine, including but not limited to intubation, ventilation management, central lines, arterial lines, and chest tubes. They will also closely monitor the hemodynamics of this high‑acuity patient population while supporting VA ECMO, Mechanical Circulatory Devices, and other advanced therapeutic treatments specific to the Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Surgery patient population. Our highly‑skilled team is willing to train the right physician to gain full competency in support of ECMO, VAD, and AHF patient care as this service line grows.
The service line is supported by our ICU Medical Directors, Advanced Heart Failure Medical Director, Cardiologists, and Advanced Practice Providers.
Requirements
MD/DO; Fellowship Trained and Board Certified in Critical Care Medicine (Pulmonary and/or Cardiac Training is a plus but not required)
Active, unrestricted license in the State of Florida (or ability to obtain prior to start); Active, unrestricted Florida DEA
Current ACLS and BLS Certification
Competent in intubation, ventilation management, central lines, arterial lines, and chest tubes
Experience with ECMO, Mechanical Circulatory Devices, and advanced therapy for Advanced Heart Failure/Cardiac Surgery patients
Ability to remain on the cardiac floors for the entirety of the on‑site night shift (12‑hour shifts)
