Accounts Payable Accountant - Washington, DC
Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a local client in Washington, DC in their search for an Accounts Payable Accountant to join their team. This full-time, onsite position offers an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with strong attention to detail and organizational skills to support the daily financial operations of the company. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounts payable processes, general accounting principles, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Process vendor invoices, purchase orders, and employee expense reimbursements accurately and timely
Review and verify invoice accuracy, coding, and proper authorization prior to payment
Prepare and process weekly check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a professional and timely manner
Maintain accurate and organized accounts payable files and documentation in compliance with company policies and audit requirements
Assist in month-end close activities, including accruals and reconciliations related to accounts payable
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper expense allocations and coding
Respond to vendor inquiries and maintain positive relationships with external partners
Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations
Assist with process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounts payable function
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
Strong understanding of accounting principles and internal controls
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and time management skills
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with a team-oriented mindset
