Position Summary The primary function of this position is to perform a variety of business operations and management tasks for the Department of Horticulture. Incumbent uses outstanding communication skills, excellent time management, and works in a fast-paced environment to meet the business needs of the Faculty, Staff, and Students. Key functions include department building, laboratory, and equipment management, post award management, and p-card purchases.

Experience with managing research projects.

Duties/Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities Department Building & Equipment Management Oversees assignment of office space, mailboxes, and keys.

Manages building access (Miller Plant Sciences).

Serves as the main liaison to University auxiliary services (e.g. FMD, Automotive Center, Telecom, OIT, Property Control & Surplus, and external vendors for equipment repair and maintenance).

Leads annual inventory of equipment for Athens campus.

Manages A/V equipment in Department conference/teaching rooms. Responsible for monitoring these devices and coordinates repairs and maintenance as necessary.

Maintains service agreements for department's equipment

Monitors Department's state vehicles and parking passes.

Serves as phone billing representative.

Manages building access and keys

Coordinates with Business Support Leader to update maintenance agreements for equipment

Percentage of time 40

Duties/Responsibilities Department Post-Award Support: Processes sub-award payments.

Updates account codes for expense reports charged to projects.

Coordinates with CAES Grants and Contracts for grant/ contract modification requests.

Assists with project close outs.

Coordinates with Business Support Leader to provides balances for faculty on projects.

Duties/Responsibilities Department Support Leads and coordinates onboarding for new employees (faculty, staff, students). Details include, but are not limited to orienting employees to business processes in the department.

P-card approver and Scholarship Universe liaison.

Provides administrative and financial oversight of departmental conferences as needed

Troubleshoot purchasing issues for faculty and staff and communicate with various vendors regarding orders in progress.

Duties/Responsibilities Human Resources/Payroll Serve as time and absence approver for bi-weekly and montly employees.

Ensure payrolls and absence requests meet HR/Payroll deadlines.

Process EDRs when needed at the direction of the Business Manager.
