Major/Essential Functions
  • Perform blood draws and specimen collection using proper aseptic and safety techniques.
  • Monitor and maintain specimen containers, ensuring all supplies are current and within expiration dates.
  • Identify and promptly report any abnormal results, discrepancies, or processing errors to the charge nurse.
  • Verify that all laboratory equipment is functioning correctly and maintain temperature and quality control logs.
  • Use the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system accurately to support continuity and quality of patient care.
  • Participate actively in Quality Assurance (QA) monitoring for laboratory equipment and processes.
  • Order, track, and maintain adequate laboratory supplies to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Follow established procedures for the collection, labeling, and preparation of all specimens.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Managed Care team to meet overall unit goals and patient care objectives.
  • Respond promptly to all work requests and communications.
  • Support departmental goals by attending team meetings and contributing to performance improvement efforts.
