Senior Land Design Civil Engineer

Overview
Senior Land Design Engineer position with Kleinfelder's southeast engineering team. Hybrid office role based in Raleigh, NC; Atlanta, GA; or Charlotte, NC. The project work is multi-disciplinary, with experience in traditional industrial/commercial land development, solar, and/or mining being especially relevant. Strong communication skills and a willingness to take on responsibilities are valued attributes.
Key responsibilities
Under supervision and with experienced staff, complete civil engineering designs and generate professional plans and specifications, technical calculations, exhibits, and reports in the following areas:
Site Layout, Grading, Storm Drainage, Water & Sewer Utilities
Erosion and Sediment Control
Storm Water Best Management Practices
Various Civil 3D plans, exhibits, and technical deliverables
Municipal and State permitting
Support clients by evaluating design to solve constructability, municipal code, and site challenges.
Coordinate with Architects, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Engineers.
Perform site visits for job scoping and coordination with survey crews, SUE, Geotech, etc.
Provide periodic construction support, including review of RFIs and Shop Drawings, field inspections, and related activities.
Education/Certification
Required: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months
Skills & Experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Self-starter who can work independently and with a team
Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver requirements successfully
Strong organization and multitasking abilities
Proactive troubleshooting with practical, client-focused solutions
Experience dealing with regulatory agencies and review professionals
3-8+ years of related civil engineering experience
Computer skills: AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD, WaterCAD, MS Office
