Ophthalmologist - Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University Position summary: The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University is seeking an ophthalmologist to join its faculty and contribute to the development of the ophthalmology service within the new Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, which is currently under construction in Harrison Township, NJ. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to support multiple specialty departments, including anesthesia, diagnostic imaging with advanced equipment (GE Revolution Ascend 128-slice CT and GE Signa Hero 3T MRI), dentistry and oral surgery, primary care, surgery, internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, neurology, exotics, dermatology, emergency/critical care, and a full pharmacy with sterile compounding capabilities.

The selected candidate will provide comprehensive ophthalmology care in the clinical setting as part of the service and will have direct responsibility for teaching and evaluation of DVM and veterinary technology students, interns, and residents in the clinical setting. Didactic teaching of ophthalmology concepts within the pre-clinical years is an essential component of the role.

Candidates for this position should have demonstrated expertise in small animal ophthalmology, having completed a residency program and being board-eligible or board-certified in ACVO or ECVO. These positions are open-rank and candidates are eligible for appointment at the Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor roles, either in a clinical or tenure track, based upon qualifications and professional goals. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive ophthalmology care in the clinical setting as part of the ophthalmology service.

Teach and evaluate DVM students, veterinary technology students, interns, and residents in the clinical setting.

Deliver didactic teaching of ophthalmology concepts within the pre-clinical years.

Qualifications

DVM or equivalent degree.

Completion of an ophthalmology training program with board-certification (or board-eligibility) ACVO or ECVO.

Demonstrated experience teaching veterinary students in a clinical setting (strongly preferred).

Currently licensed in or eligible for licensure in NJ.

NJ CDS permit or obtained upon hire.

DEA registration or obtained upon hire.

Rank and Appointment Positions are open-rank and candidates are eligible for appointment at the Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor levels, either in a clinical or tenure track, based upon qualifications and professional goals.

Salary Salary range: $130,000 to $208,000 annually. Salary offers consider factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, work experience, education, training, key skills, internal equity, market, and other organizational considerations, in compliance with the State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act.
