Vice President for Institutional Advancement Job Title: Vice President of Institutional Advancement | FLSA Status: Exempt - Executive | Department: Institutional Advancement | Reports to: President | Location: Gillette, Wyoming

The Vice President of Institutional Advancement (VPIA) is a visionary and strategic leader responsible for advancing the mission and impact of Gillette Community College District (GCCD) through philanthropic growth, brand elevation, and innovative community partnerships. As a key member of the President’s Executive Team, the VPIA provides leadership and oversight for the Gillette College Foundation, institutional fundraising, marketing and communications, and workforce development. Reporting directly to the President, the VPIA drives the strategic vision and execution of institutional advancement initiatives that foster meaningful relationships with donors, alumni, industry, and community stakeholders. This role is pivotal to sustaining and expanding the College’s resources, resources, and regional influence.

Executive Leadership and Collaboration: Serve as a key advisor to the President and contribute to high-level institutional strategy and decision-making.

Executive Leadership and Collaboration: Lead, supervise, and develop directors and teams across advancement, marketing, workforce, and community divisions.

Executive Leadership and Collaboration: Develop and manage budgets, identify grant opportunities, and drive cross-functional initiatives that elevate institutional excellence.

Executive Leadership and Collaboration: Represent the College with integrity and enthusiasm in external settings, building strong partnerships with community leaders, industry stakeholders, and elected officials.

Executive Leadership and Collaboration: Lead and build collaborative teams to create and expand partnerships across a transforming industry landscape.

Strategic Advancement and Foundation Leadership

Lead and manage the strategic direction of the Gillette College Foundation in alignment with institutional priorities.

Cultivate and manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects, soliciting transformational gifts that support capital, scholarship, and programmatic goals.

Partner with the Foundation Executive Director and Board of Directors to strengthen board engagement, fundraising capacity, and financial stewardship.

Oversee donor relations, gift processing, stewardship, and compliance with nonprofit and fundraising regulations.

Develop and implement comprehensive advancement plans, including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, and capital campaigns.

Marketing and Communications Oversight

Provide executive oversight for all institutional marketing and communications strategies.

Ensure consistent, compelling, and mission-aligned messaging across digital, print, and media platforms.

Collaborate with marketing and communications staff to plan and execute integrated campaigns, publications, or digital outreach.

Workforce Development and Innovation

Collaborate and provide executive leadership to the Dean of Workforce and Innovation to successfully expand and drive innovative efforts across the college.

Provide strategic leadership for the College’s workforce development initiatives, aligning programming with local and regional labor market needs.

Expand community education offerings that enhance lifelong learning, personal enrichment, and civic engagement.

Oversee the operations and growth of the College’s makerspace as a hub for innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship.

Minimum Qualifications

Earned master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, public relations, business administration, higher education, or related discipline).

A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible executive leadership experience in institutional advancement, fundraising, marketing, or community engagement.

Proven success in major gift fundraising, campaign development, and donor relationship management.

Demonstrated experience in executive-level supervision and cross-departmental leadership.

Deep commitment to the mission, vision, and values of community colleges and rural education.

Familiarity with donor management systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, Little Green Light).

Experience leading workforce development or community education initiatives.

Demonstrated ability to build and sustain public-private partnerships and innovative community programming.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate or terminal degree in a related field.

Experience working in a community college or regional higher education setting.

Familiarity with industry certification and apprenticeship programs.

Successful grant writing and administration experience.

Experience in program evaluation, data analysis, and continuous improvement processes.
