Overview Position:

Technical Product Manager with a strong foundation in medical device engineering and a proven track record in product management. This role requires integrating deep technical understanding with strategic business insight to drive the development, launch, and lifecycle management of our prosthetic product portfolio. The Technical Product Manager serves as the conduit between engineering, commercial teams, clinical users, and executive leadership. Responsibilities include defining product requirements, shaping the product roadmap, ensuring regulatory compliance, and bringing market-ready products to life. This position offers a pivotal role in scaling novel technologies into competitive market offerings within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with the Director of Marketing to define and co-own the product vision, long-term roadmap, and competitive positioning for BrainRobotics prosthetic solutions.

Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities, guide strategic decisions, and inform feature prioritization.

Translate organizational objectives into actionable product strategies and timelines.

Product Development & Engineering Collaboration

Convert user needs and clinical insights into detailed product requirements, specifications, and acceptance criteria.

Collaborate closely with engineering teams to guide product architecture decisions (software, firmware, hardware) and evaluate design trade-offs.

Oversee the product development lifecycle to ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

Support the creation and review of engineering documentation, including SOPs, validation protocols, and technical reports.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Execution

Partner with clinicians, engineers, operations, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and marketing to ensure comprehensive product readiness.

Drive alignment across stakeholders to support seamless product launches, commercialization strategies, and customer support processes.

Deliver clear and compelling communications and presentations to executive leadership, field teams, and external partners.

Act as the voice of the customer by engaging directly with clinicians, patients, and distributors to capture feedback and identify unmet needs.

Incorporate user insights into the product roadmap to enhance usability, accessibility, and patient outcomes.

Represent BrainRobotics at conferences, industry events, and customer engagements as a technical and product expert.

Compliance & Risk Management

Collaborate with the Operations team to ensure that product development activities comply with medical device regulations (e.g., FDA, ISO, CE) and industry standards.

Identify and mitigate risks associated with technical development, regulatory approval, and market adoption.

Work jointly with various internal teams to monitor and maintain awareness of evolving regulatory, reimbursement, and industry trends that may impact the product portfolio.

Qualifications Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related technical discipline from an ABET-accredited program required.

Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.

Experience

Minimum

5 years of product management and/or mechanical engineering experience

in the medical device industry; prosthetics experience strongly preferred.

Minimum

3 years of experience in technical system development

(software, firmware, hardware), with proficiency in at least one programming language.

Demonstrated success in guiding products from concept through development, regulatory approval, and commercial launch.

Strong understanding of medical device design controls, quality systems, and compliance requirements.

Proven ability to manage complex projects, balance competing priorities, and make trade-off decisions while maintaining focus on quality and customer value.

Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a structured approach to decision-making.

Working knowledge of prosthetic and orthotic clinical vocabulary preferred.

Prior high-growth company experience is a plus.
