Network Engineer Consultant to support one of our high-tech clients in maintaining and advancing their enterprise network infrastructure.
This consultant will provide hands‑on technical expertise in designing, implementing, and optimizing network and voice systems while ensuring maximum performance, availability, and security across a multi‑site environment.
The ideal candidate is a proactive, senior‑level engineer with deep technical knowledge of Cisco and Palo Alto systems and the ability to lead complex network initiatives from planning through delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain enterprise LAN, WAN, VLAN, and wireless networks.
Configure and support firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, and related network security solutions.
Evaluate, test, and deploy new versions of hardware, software, and firmware across networking devices.
Monitor and analyze network performance to identify and resolve bottlenecks, risks, and optimization opportunities.
Lead or support network‑related projects, upgrades, and migrations to ensure seamless integration and uptime.
Develop and maintain detailed network documentation, topology diagrams, and configuration standards.
Conduct root‑cause analysis (RCA) and provide after‑action reports (AAR) following unplanned outages.
Collaborate with Infrastructure and VoIP teams to ensure end‑to‑end reliability and scalability.
Provide Level 3 technical support and serve as a subject matter expert for complex network issues.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience as a Network Engineer or equivalent role supporting large enterprise environments.
Advanced knowledge of routing and switching protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, STP, VPC).
Strong experience with firewalls, VPN, load balancing, and wireless networking (IPS, IDS, IPSEC Tunnels).
Hands‑on experience with Cisco (Nexus 7k/9k, Catalyst, Meraki) and Palo Alto (PA220, PA2030, PA880) devices.
Proven experience with packet/protocol analysis tools for troubleshooting and performance improvement.
Familiarity with Software Defined Networking (SDN), VMware, or cloud‑based network solutions.
Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
Certification: CCNP (Enterprise or Routing & Switching preferred)

Duration: 6-month contract with potential for extension
Pay Rate: $60–63/hour (W2)
