Overview

The Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) seeks a highly experienced and strategic Director of Foundation Relations to lead and grow our foundation fundraising efforts. This position is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy to secure new foundation grants, while also maintaining and building upon existing relationships. Foundations in FY2024 represented 78% of BPC’s revenue. We expect substantial growth in the next 2-3 years. Base pay range

$150,000.00/yr - $175,000.00/yr BPC is a nonprofit organization focused on bipartisan policy solutions. Through BPC Action (c)(4) and related programs, we engage in advocacy and outreach to support bipartisan collaboration and evidence-based policy making. Responsibilities

Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for foundation fundraising, with a focus on cultivating new donors and aligning with BPC's mission and programmatic goals. Participate in high-level strategic planning with BPC program leadership to identify new funding opportunities and align foundation relations with organizational goals. Work with leadership and BPC Action to identify, cultivate, and solicit new foundation opportunities. Manage the entire grant lifecycle, including prospecting, proposal development, grant writing, and reporting. Direct all prospect research activities, identifying potential funders, developing outreach strategies, and preparing executive-level briefings. Oversee grant reporting, ensuring timely and accurate submissions with collaboration from policy teams for outcomes and impact data. Serve as primary point of contact for foundation officers, leading cultivation and stewardship and negotiating terms of complex grant agreements in line with BPC’s policies. Maintain foundation records in Salesforce, including grant calendars, revenue pipelines, and donor interactions. Coordinate with Development leadership to track and forecast grant funds and revenue from foundations. Coordinate with BPC program and project budgets to align with workplans and funder requirements. Stay current on philanthropic trends to inform and adjust the foundation fundraising strategy. Lead the coordination of foundation representation at development events, including logistics and materials preparation. Supervise and mentor two development staff (Foundations Manager and Assistant), setting performance goals and overseeing professional development. Qualifications

7-10 years of progressive experience in fundraising, development, or grant writing and management, with a proven track record of securing significant foundation grants. Experience in a leadership or senior-level role, preferably in a nonprofit setting. Ability to develop and implement successful fundraising strategies. Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple complex projects under pressure. Superior writing and editing skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable engaging with foundation officers, donors, and internal teams. Infrequent travel may be required. Extensive experience with CRM databases; Salesforce preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
