About Us The Shelby County Arts Council (SCAC) is a dynamic nonprofit dedicated to enriching lives through artistic expression, cultural programs, and community engagement. Located in the heart of Columbiana, the SCAC plays a vital role in the region’s cultural and economic development through gallery exhibitions, live performances, education, and outreach.

Position Overview The SCAC seeks a visionary and pragmatic Executive Director to lead the organization into its next chapter of growth and impact. The ideal candidate will bring leadership experience, a passion for the arts, and a clear understanding of how creative programming uplifts communities and local economies.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership : Guide SCAC’s mission, vision, and long-term goals in alignment with board priorities and community needs

Fundraising & Development : Lead donor relations, grant writing, corporate partnerships, and innovative fundraising strategies

Programming Oversight : Curate and execute compelling events and performances; experience in talent buying and event planning is highly desirable

Community Engagement : Foster relationships with civic leaders, schools, artists, and regional partners to amplify SCAC’s presence. Our partnership and collaboration with the City of Columbiana and Shelby County is a high priority

Financial & Operational Management : Oversee budgeting, staff supervision, facility operations, and organizational reporting

Advocacy for the Arts : Promote the role of the arts in economic development, tourism, education, and civic pride

Ideal Qualifications

Experience in nonprofit leadership, preferably as an Executive Director, Development Director, or equivalent related experience

Demonstrated success in fundraising, including donor cultivation and campaign strategy

Strong understanding of event production, talent booking, and public programming

Passion for the arts and belief in their transformative impact on local economies and community health

Excellent communication, relationship-building, and team leadership skills

Bachelor’s degree in arts administration, nonprofit management, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
