An opportunity has arisen within our team for an enthusiastic and highly motivated pharmacist with excellent communication skills to provide high quality Mental Health clinical pharmacy services. If you have a passion for delivering optimal patient care and can demonstrate this through the 6Cs of care – compassion, courage, communication, competence and commitment – we would like to hear from you.

This fixed‑term (12 months, maternity cover) role offers the chance to develop clinical, operational and managerial skills. Applicants should be able to work within a team, be proactive and have a keen interest in mental health. Mental health experience is desirable but not essential.

For a Band 7 post you will need at least 2 years post‑registration experience, completion of a clinical pharmacy postgraduate study and well‑developed clinical pharmacy skills.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver specialist mental health clinical pharmacy services as part of the CWP pharmacy team.

Work with the multidisciplinary team to ensure pharmaceutical care needs of patients are met.

Maintain and uphold medicines management standards across the trust.

Provide education on safe and effective medication use to medical and nursing staff, patients and carers.

Provide professional support and supervision to pre‑registration and student pharmacists.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent.

Registered as a practising pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

Evidence of continuing professional development.

Evidence of clinical pharmacy training.

Postgraduate clinical or mental health pharmacy qualification.

Knowledge and Expertise

Specialised and up‑to‑date knowledge of medicines management.

Knowledge of NHS policy, processes and guidelines relating to medicines management, pharmacy and mental health.

Knowledge of clinical governance, clinical audit and risk management.

Good IT skills – Windows, word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, e‑mail and web applications.

Specialist knowledge of mental health therapeutics.

Experience

Experience of implementing new procedures or guidelines.

Experience in education and training.
