Job Description Applications Engineering within the Custom Automation Equipment Industry is typically focused on the development of competitive technical solutions to customer requirements for custom automated equipment. The Level II Applications Engineering role typically includes the following:

Gaining a thorough understanding of the customer specifications, requirements and existing pain points.

Develop and define cost competitive, capable technical solutions that meet internal and external customer requirements.

Apply practical conformance to the JRA Applications Engineering corporate practices, procedures and tools.

Provide cross‑functional team support for projects for which you were the assigned AE.

Ensure conformance to “as sold” scope of work.

Responsibilities

Review customer technical specifications and requirements in preparation to knowledgeably develop system concepts, costs, risk assessments, and proposal documents that define the content and functionality of the proposed scope of work.

Apply practical conformance to the JRA corporate practices, procedures and tools, specifically those developed for the use and function of the Applications Engineering department.

Generate and render conceptual solutions for customer problems which may have no previous or standard solutions in various CAD formats.

Facilitate concept brainstorming, leading docket review meetings with the support of a Level 3, Level 4, Lead, or AE manager.

Prepare and schedule preliminary and final internal and external audience quote package reviews.

Develop proposals that clearly and completely define the proposed scope of work, rate of production, machine buy‑off requirements, customer part requirements through all project phases, and include appropriate assumptions and exceptions.

Support account managers by ensuring pain points and competitive advantages are leveraged into the proposals.

Travel with a mentor or account manager.

Present to a customer with the support of a mentor.

Maintain assignment‑specific AE related fields in company CRM.

Schedule and facilitate project kick‑off meetings for PEP.

Support functional team members associated with a project by facilitating required tollgate meetings for awarded work and consulting with the PM for scope variation.

Attend early phase project design reviews to ensure conformance to “as sold” scope of work.

Education and Language Requirements High school/GED required.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related field, or equivalent.

Master’s degree preferred.

2+ years of industry experience leading successful projects.

Competent in all applications engineering processes and tools.
