Overview

The Meat Department Lead assists in overseeing Meat Department operations including ordering, processing and merchandising meat and seafood, inventory, and maintaining department cleanliness and sanitation standards. They provide mentorship and coaching to Meat staff, including setting the standard for excellent customer service. They participate in department planning including scheduling, budgeting, and product mix. Job Locations

Providing and modeling excellent, professional customer service and mentoring staff in this area Assists in overseeing Meat operations including ordering, processing and merchandising meat and seafood, inventory, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards Managing the department in the absence of the Meat Coordinator Providing direction, supervision, hands‑on coaching and mentorship to Meat staff Participating in department planning with the Meat Coordinator including budgeting, product mix and scheduling Mentoring and training staff to ensure that department sanitation, cleanliness and safety standards are met Gaining thorough knowledge of all meat products and meat services Qualifications and Skills

Proven ability to provide excellent, professional customer service Journey level meat cutter A high level of awareness of health and safety codes and the ability to implement systems to maintain compliance The ability to demonstrate organizational and planning skills Computer knowledge and skills including Microsoft Office programs Excellent leadership, teambuilding, and communication skills Demonstrates creative thinking and problem‑solving skills Flexible schedule with availability to work evenings and weekends Must be willing to accommodate transferring between PCC locations as needed, depending on the needs of the company Must be able to meet physical demands including standing, bending, twisting, repetitive motion and lifting 10–40lbs regularly Background in retail natural foods industry and a passion for food and its preparation preferred A Meat Cutters License is required A current Food Worker Card from the Washington State Department of Health is required If hired into this role, a Certified Food Protection Manager certification (for example ServSafe) is required (paid for by PCC) If hired into this role, a CPR/First Aid Certification is required (paid for by PCC) Benefits and Perks

Additional $1.25/hour Night Differential when applicable. Holiday pay.
