Pharmaron is seeking a highly skilled Surgical Specialist to join our Medical Device team in Carlsbad, CA. This hands-on role focuses on performing advanced surgical procedures and providing technical expertise for evaluating cutting-edge medical devices and therapeutics in both large and small animal models. You will also contribute to developing new surgical techniques, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Responsibilities

Perform hands on, complex surgical and interventional procedures on large and small animal models to support preclinical medical device research. Provide surgical and technical support to internal and external customers regarding surgical models and services. Use and interpret fluoroscope, ultrasound and endoscope imaging. Provide surgical, anaesthesia and analgesic technical expertise/advice to facilitate protocol development. Review Study and IACUC protocols of surgical/anaesthesia section and provide prompt and timely feedback. Continue to expand the breadth of the medical device service offerings through introduction of new surgical models, new technical capabilities. Perform and train staff on necropsies on small and large animals. Provide support for activities of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), including protocol review, surgical procedure refinement. Ensure facility is in compliance with all applicable regulations, guidelines and standards that relate to animal care and use (e.g. USDA, FDA, and AAALAC). Train staff on in-vivo procedures in both large and small animals. Collaborate with the Attending Veterinarian to perform veterinary duties as needed. What We\'re Looking For

A minimum of 5-7 years of surgical and interventional procedures experience in a Contract Research Organization (CRO), industry, or academic setting with expertise in medical device research. Background in small and large lab animal (in vivo) research with a focus on surgical techniques is a must. A comprehensive understanding of the requirements for GLP study execution and documentation is required. Certification as a Surgical Research Specialist (SRS) is highly desirable.
