Associate Director, SOAR - Student Affairs HV-NTPI-8359 Overview Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) seeks an experienced, dynamic, capable, creative and caring Associate Director for SOAR - Office of Student Outreach, Advisement and Retention. This is a 12-month position on the Non-Teaching Professional staff. The role reports to the Associate Dean of Academic Advisement and Retention or their designee and involves providing advisement, managing SOAR operations, and supporting retention initiatives. Responsibilities

Provide academic advisement to a reduced caseload of students in SOAR through multiple modalities (phone, e-mail, web/video-conferencing, and in-person).

Manage the daily operations of the SOAR office including scheduling of student appointments, workflow, technology, website, facilities issues, training, and representation on campus committees as needed.

Supervise clerical, technical, enrollment/retention and other support staff within the SOAR Office, as well as student workers, college workers and/or interns.

Assist the Associate Dean with maximizing CRM RECRUIT and CRM ADVISE functionality for SOAR and enrollment/retention efforts.

Act as liaison with student services offices and academic departments; primary contact for the Offices of the Registrar, Student Financial Services, First Year Experience/Orientation and Admissions.

Support a welcoming and inclusive environment and promote staff professional development and growth.

Review curriculum impacts on students and student schedules; update advising materials as needed.

Coordinate, monitor and maintain records; generate reports related to program operation and evaluation (e.g., High School Student populations, online advisement, online/hybrid engagement).

Develop and implement strategies to improve retention and completion, including interventions/academic supports for probation and at-risk students, including SAP Appeals.

Create and manage program components, data collection, and delivery to meet engagement and academic benchmarks.

Review transfer credit and Credit for Prior Learning in coordination with the Associate Dean and Department Chairpersons.

Perform other related duties as assigned; provide additional services to supplement the advising program. Some evening and weekend hours required.

This is a 12-month position with a salary of $57,000 - $60,000.

Qualifications

Education, Minimum Requirements:

Master’s Degree and two (2) years of experience as an academic counselor/advisor at the postsecondary level.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Ellucian Banner, DegreeWorks and CRM Systems; experience or interest in online advisement and non-traditional advisement delivery systems.

Employment details

12-month position; salary $57,000 - $60,000.
