General Motors As a GSC Manager, you will be responsible for managing and leading a team of Supervisors/Leads and individual contributors for one of the key areas within the Global Supply Chain Organization: manufacturing operations, supply chain system, and processes, launch execution and scheduling and material management. What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
Lead, guide and direct a team that is responsible for executing deliverables in support of the Spring Hill Assembly GSC business objectives. Embrace and lead innovative solutions in the material delivery space through implementation of automated equipment. Provide leadership of one of the key areas within GM Global Logistics/Containers to ensure business objectives are met or exceeded in all areas including customer, quality, service, responsiveness, people, product and financial initiatives. Communicate within the function as well as other functions, external affiliates, regulatory agencies. Support relationship management with logistic suppliers and service providers. Manage supplier relationships and operational effectiveness. Influence others within the organization to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches. Identify problems, update or modify work methods that may be complex in the work area without the benefit of defined procedures. Promote GM's values and make customer-focused decisions. Hold accountability for staffing, communicating, training and development, directing and prioritization of work, evaluating performance, and removing roadblocks. Provide technical leadership to the team and interact with multi-functional teams to meet targets. Lead the team on new methods or initiatives without defined procedures. Hiring processes: identify and lead staffing initiatives for the work team; conduct regularly scheduled group meetings, communicate GM policies & procedures, leadership and safety messages; craft function-specific communications on vision & strategy, including presentations. Training & Developing: ensure employees are in compliance with mandatory GM training and any specific training related to functional responsibility; support employees' career development goals and develop initiatives to improve team capability and capacity. Delegation: assign and balance workload for direct reports; set individual and group priorities. Monitoring & Approving GM Records: make decisions about employee work and overtime. Expertise
Has deep knowledge of organizational practices and versatile management experience across different teams and areas within the function and sometimes across different functions. Owns a distinct business area within the function or organization; uses independent judgment to make professional and managerial decisions and drives results by leading teams on execution of plans. Drives development of policies and processes within the area they manage, ensuring best practices are identified, assessed, and integrated as appropriate; advises senior leadership on processes and products with direct impact on organizational results. Collaborates with executive management to develop strategic plans and translate them into actionable strategies and operational plans for the team; reprioritizes and reallocates resources based on changing business needs; guides the team in resolving complex issues and contributes to long-term strategy for the area managed. Develops plans for people resources and ensures team members grow their skills; has ongoing career discussions and allocates resources based on strengths. Engages with senior management, executives, and major customers to negotiate matters impacting the function; aligns multiple stakeholder perspectives to achieve agreement on complex issues; manages conflicts across the area. Maintains effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels in complex communication situations. Scope and Impact
Works with senior management to develop and implement strategic plans; fully accountable for delivery of operational plans and their effectiveness; provides long-term perspective and often leads cross-functional critical projects. Builds and manages large teams; makes staffing decisions; supports and guides development of direct reports; drives performance; champions large-scale change management and models GM behaviors. Impact goes beyond the department; owns delivery of Key Performance Indicators and Key Strategic Initiatives that directly impact function results and GM business strategy. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and/or Business Administration 10+ Years of experience in Manufacturing/Supply Chain Environment What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
Master's Degree in Engineering and/or Business Administration 12+ Years of experience in Manufacturing/Supply Chain Environment Knowledge in AMR/AFT (Autonomous Mobile Robot / Autonomous Fork Trucks) Experience working in a union environment within manufacturing GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
