UC Davis Clinical and Translational Science Center The Pharmacy Technician 3 serves as a key member of the healthcare team, supporting patient care at our pharmacies and promoting continuous workflow improvement in prescription compounding and fulfillment. This role involves close collaboration with pharmacy leadership to ensure daily operational excellence. Primary Responsibilities

Actively participates in critical pharmacy workflows, including nonsterile compounding, medication reconstitution, inventory and the operational dispensing and flow of prescriptions at our pharmacy, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. Reviews and initiates prescription orders for timely and accurate release into the automated dispensing system, maintaining operational efficiency. Serves as a key liaison across multiple teams to troubleshoot issues, resolve workflow disruptions, and optimize communication. Strategically manages the logistical flow of prescription orders in the pharmacy driving continuous performance improvements and ensuring seamless integration with high-volume pharmacy operations. Minimum Qualifications

California Licensed Pharmacy Technician One (1) year of recent work experience in non-sterile compounding of hazardous and non-hazardous medications Two (2) years of recent work experience in an Outpatient Pharmacy or Specialty Pharmacy as a licensed Pharmacy Technician Working knowledge of current third-party insurances, Medicare Part B and California State Medicaid Working knowledge of billing and submitting authorization requests for State funded insurance programs Ability to operate Pharmacy Information System and other computer programs Working knowledge of current California Pharmacy Law Ability to accurately perform pharmacy calculations Preferred Qualifications

Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Experience working with conveyance and pharmacy automation in a mail order pharmacy setting Experience with working at a UCDH Outpatient Pharmacy or Health System Outpatient Pharmacy Experience with Pharmacy EPIC dispensing systems or EPIC EMR Experience running reports and analyzing data Working knowledge of current Medi-Cal Formulary and other third-party billing systems Current working knowledge of pharmacy terminology, generic/brand names and drug abbreviations Ability to recognize situations that exceed technician authority and must be referred to a pharmacist for resolution Problem-solving skills to independently recognize and define a problem and identify the resources available to help solve the problem Ability to independently create and implement viable solutions and follow through to ensure the problem is resolved Ability to exercise discretion to ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained, and a professional, respectful clinic/department environment exists at all times Ability to impart knowledge and develop the skills of students participating in training programs, as well as new hires and staff seeking additional opportunities Working knowledge of and skill to apply practices, principles and techniques of patient care related to area of expertise Written and oral communication skills to clearly and concisely provide information, explanations and instructions to, and to elicit information from others with varying levels of ability to understand, including individuals who are ill or distressed, or who may not speak English Key Responsibilities

The Department of Pharmacy is a dynamic, integral, and critical part of patient care provided by UC Davis Health. As a department of greater than 600 professional, technical, and administrative support personnel, we focus on providing patient-centered medication management that optimizes outcomes through practice, education, research, and leadership through the continuum of care. We also have the largest pharmacy residency program in the country with 46 total residents in 13 different programs. The Department of Pharmacy offers comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical services, infusion pumps, and teaching) throughout the health system complex 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pharmacy services encompass inpatient pharmacy services as well as an expansive footprint in the ambulatory care space where we have clinical pharmacists embedded within our clinics and specialty care locations. Our operational teams support the health system enterprise with three inpatient pharmacies, five outpatient pharmacies, two infusion pharmacies, a home infusion service line, and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores, and distribution.
