We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced

NOC Engineer - Transmission

to join our team in Herndon, Virginia. The ideal candidate will have a background in network operations, with experience in DWDM or Huawei technology and proficiency with Cisco routers. As a NOC Engineer at PCCW Global, you will play a critical role in the 24/7 operations of our Network Operations Centre (NOC). You will be responsible for ensuring the timely identification and resolution of issues across our cable, transmission, and VIP customized transmission networks. The role requires a positive attitude, flexibility, excellent work ethic, and the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. Responsibilities Network Monitoring: Proactively monitor network performance 24/7 using network management systems (NMS) to identify potential issues and take corrective actions to maintain optimal network performance. Fault Management: Respond promptly to alarms and service desk tickets, performing fault isolation, troubleshooting, and resolution for transmission network incidents across DWDM, SDH, and submarine cable systems. Provide first-level support for transmission and submarine network equipment faults. Coordinate with engineering teams for hardware replacements or advanced troubleshooting as necessary. Testing and Verification: Execute Bit Error Rate (BER) and RFC2544 tests to identify transmission network faults, validate performance, and ensure network connectivity meets required standards. Service Restoration: Conduct service assurance activities and implement restoration procedures to minimize downtime for PCCW Global's DWDM, SDH, and submarine cable networks, ensuring service continuity. Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and customers to resolve transmission network issues efficiently and ensure seamless service delivery across the network. Documentation & Reporting: Accurately document all troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and outage details in the ticketing system. Provide clear and timely updates to internal stakeholders and customers. Routine Maintenance: Perform regular routine maintenance tasks on network systems according to documented procedures, ensuring network stability, optimal performance, and readiness for traffic. Conduct circuit acceptance testing for network trunks and bearers, ensuring proper configuration, performance validation, and updating inventory databases for installations, changes, and recoveries. Security Compliance: Adhere to all company policies regarding information security, network safety, and personal data privacy, ensuring all work complies with industry standards and internal protocols. Shift Management: Operate effectively within rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends, ensuring round-the-clock network monitoring and issue resolution.

Qualifications

Education : High school diploma required, degree in Information Technology or related field preferred, but not a must. Experience : 2-4 years in NOC or related roles; experience in data communications and telecom services a plus. Certifications :

Cisco CCNA Certification

required;

CompTIA Network+

and

Huawei HCIA-Transmission

certifications are nice to have. Experience with Ticket Platforms : Familiarity with Remedy or other ticket platforms is advantageous. Familiarity with

JIRA

is a plus. Technical Skills : Experience with

DWDM ,

Huawei technology , and

Cisco routers

are required.
