Roles and Responsibilities
Provide ownership for both quality assurance and quality control within manufacturing operations, including conformance in production, incoming material control, and product inspection.
Lead and execute continuous improvement initiatives to drive process standardization, efficiency, and defect reduction.
Apply advanced problem-solving methods (8D, Root Cause Analysis, 5-Why) to resolve complex quality issues impacting multiple programs and value streams.
Partner with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams to identify high-risk processes and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Support and conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with AS9100, customer, and regulatory requirements.
Lead investigations related to nonconformance, perform MRB (Material Review Board) activities, and ensure timely disposition and closure of quality events.
Develop and maintain quality system documentation, procedures, and work instructions in alignment with business and regulatory requirements.
Utilize LEAN and FLIGHT DECK methodologies to optimize quality systems, ensure compliance, and drive product quality and reliability improvements.
Support process capability studies, FAI (First Article Inspection) per AS9102, PFMEA, and other quality planning tools to ensure robust process control.
Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, inspectors, and production teams on quality tools, standards, and best practices.
Interface with customers, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to support audits, reviews, and product compliance activities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace, or related discipline) from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in Manufacturing Quality) + Minimum 5 years of experience in Manufacturing, Quality, or a related technical discipline
Working knowledge of quality systems and standards (AS9100, ISO 9001, or equivalent)
Desired Characteristics
ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification
Experience with APQP, PPAP, Control Plans, and Process Validation
Demonstrated knowledge of NADCAP special processes (heat treat, coatings, NDT, welding, brazing, etc.)
Proficiency in GD&T and aerospace blueprint interpretation
Experience with inspection equipment and methods (CMM, vision systems, gages, etc.)
Experience in supplier quality, including supplier assessments, audits, and performance improvement activities
Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (Minitab, JMP) for SPC, MSA, and capability analysis
Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional problem-solving teams and implementation of effective corrective actions
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across functions and levels
Proficient in digital quality and manufacturing systems
Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, and risk-based quality approaches
Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive accountability in a fast-paced production environment
