Overview
Senior Project Manager – Power Generation opportunity at HDR. The role involves helping clients develop, contract, and implement natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects while serving as Owner’s Engineer and/or Advisor. The Senior Project Manager will join a national, multi-discipline team that supports power and energy projects in the industrial, IPP, developer, and utility sectors. This is a seller-doer role responsible for maintaining client relationships, bringing in projects, developing strategies and work plans, monitoring progress, and leading multi-discipline project teams to successful completion. This role requires significant client interaction and strong verbal and written communication skills for regular interaction with internal staff, including project teams, marketing staff, and operations leadership. Ideal candidates will have substantial experience with utility-scale power generation systems including simple cycle and combined cycle plants. Preferred locations include Austin, Ann Arbor, Boise, Bismarck, Billings, Charlotte, Chicago, Denver, Irvine, Fort Worth, Houston, Honolulu, Kansas City, Madison, Minneapolis, Missoula, Omaha, Phoenix, Portland (OR & ME), Richmond, Raleigh, Sacramento/Folsom, San Diego, Seattle, Spokane, St. Louis, and Syracuse. Responsibilities
Develop and maintain positive and proactive client relationships. Achieve project schedule, quality, and profitability goals. Serve as proposal champion/manager; assist with proposal preparation, review of contract terms and conditions, and evaluation of risks associated with the services offered. Provide daily leadership to the project team and technical staff in completion of project activities. Provide regular communication and coordination within the project team and with the client so that the project work plan and client expectations on deliverables are understood and aligned; monitor deliverables for quality, completeness and conformance to expectations. Proactively monitor and maintain the project budget and schedule; develop recovery plans as needed. Monitor the contracted scope of work and identify scope changes. Provide training and mentoring to project team staff on project management and project consulting issues. Guide design or consulting work in the manager’s area of engineering expertise. Routinely report project progress to local and regional accounting and operations teams. All other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of degree and relevant project experience. Minimum 10 years of relevant power generation project experience. Registered Professional Engineer. PMP Certification. Experience designing or managing simple cycle and combined cycle EPC projects as owner, owner’s engineer, OEM, or EPC contractor. Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects. Demonstrated business development skills. Good communication, leadership, planning, and mentoring skills. MS Office, Adobe, and other relevant software experience. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field. 10 years related experience. A minimum of 5 years of project management experience. Familiar with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, project management software.
