Overview
Spanish Analytical Linguist - Nationwide. Location: Nationwide. Security Clearance: Public Trust. Schedule: This is an as Needed Part-Time Essential Services Position which may require day and/or night shifts, including weekends and holidays. This position is subject to the Service Contract Act and is non-exempt, eligible for overtime. Hourly: $34-$40/hr. Contingent upon award. Job Summary: Our Linguists perform real-time transcriptions of sensitive material from Spanish to English, analyze slang and colloquialisms, extract pertinent information, and communicate findings to law enforcement. They transcribe source documents and recordings from various media formats. Responsibilities
Listen to oral and written intercepts or pre-recorded communications in Spanish and provide verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions as applicable per project. Relate pertinent information to the client when supporting a live project. Contribute to a master-list of slang words and codes used in projects. Maintain a voice library for the project duration. Transcribe and translate pertinent calls and documents as assigned. Produce court-ready transcriptions of calls, chats, and documents in the required format. Use reference tools created during the project. Transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8-hour day. Operate government-provided software and equipment such as JSI Voice Box, Pen-Link, Comverse, and other collection tools at the site. Maintain a daily productivity log. Perform related duties within the scope of practice as assigned. Minimum Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree with three (3) years of professional experience, OR Associate degree with five (5) years, OR High School Diploma with seven (7) years of experience. Minimum of one (1) year of transcription experience in Spanish. Must be a U.S. citizen and subject to a government background investigation; eligibility to access classified information may be required. Knowledge of Spanish colloquial terms and expressions; familiarity with SMS language, social media, and Web chat. Excellent verbal and written skills in Spanish and English, with proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Must meet contract requirement of a Language Assessment score of 3 or better (Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing) in English and Spanish. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with management and law enforcement personnel. Strong time management, prioritization, and ability to balance multiple tasks in a team setting. Ability to take technical direction and feedback from various sources. Typing speed of 45 words per minute. Security/Background & Physical Requirements
Ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance. Favorable credit check for cleared positions. Successfully passing a background investigation and drug screen. U.S. citizen; residence in the U.S. for the past 3 out of 5 years is preferred. Physical/Working Conditions: standing, walking, mobility as needed; occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling; 0-10% of time lifting; 100% of time writing, typing, and using a telephone system; prolonged sitting during monitoring.
