Overview
Walden University, an Adtalem Global Education institution, supports a diverse community of adult learners from across the U.S. and other countries pursuing academic goals and positive social change in their professions and communities. Walden offers more than 100 online degree and certificate programs. Walden is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. In U.S. locations, Walden operates on a hybrid work model with three in-office days and two remote days per week. What to Expect as a Walden Faculty Member Faculty educate Walden University students using online technology and resources so that knowledge, information, feedback, and critique are imparted in thoughtful, well written, and timely communications. Faculty grade assignments, participate in discussions, respond to student emails, and use technology to enhance the learning experience. This occurs in an environment respectful of the student, the faculty member, Walden University, and the discipline.
Training All new faculty members receive training in online teaching techniques, use of the electronic learning platform, policies and degree programs of the School or College, Walden University culture, assessment of academic integrity, and research supervision of theses and dissertations. Teaching and mentorship assignments depend on successful completion of training. During the first term, a faculty peer mentor may be assigned to support instruction and provide regular peer reviews.
Course/Teaching Availability Faculty are assigned courses taught using Canvas and interact with students within Canvas. Discussion boards are open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Faculty are expected to be in the classroom a minimum of 4 days per week and respond to student questions within 48 hours. Regular and predictable availability, such as online office hours or online chats, is suggested and may be required by program or college policy.

Licensing/Certification
Faculty Members must be appropriately credentialed, work currently as an NP, possess an earned degree from an accredited institution or recognized by a country's ministry of education in the discipline being taught, and may be licensed or license-eligible to teach in specific programs. Faculty Members must maintain licenses and appropriate certifications to continue teaching. Researchers at Walden should stay current with relevant literature. If participating in research, the Faculty Member may publish and acknowledge Walden University. All NP Faculty are
required
to obtain RN and APRN licensure in the state of Minnesota and provide evidence of current Advanced Practice certification before being hired as a Nurse Practitioner Faculty at Walden University. This position may be eligible for a bonus upon hire.
Education and Experience
Earned Doctorate
A record of professional scholarly contributions to their field of specialization.
A minimum of one year experience of teaching
in higher education.
Current clinical experience in NP practice .
Teaching experience, preferred online teaching experience , but not required
Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students earning their degrees in a distance learning environment.
Excellent oral and written communication, leadership, teamwork, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
Board Certified FNP
Travel Contributing faculty members may have the opportunity to travel to university events and residencies. When traveling to these events, the faculty member will be expected to fully participate in the event.
Work Environment Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for 6–8 hours daily and related physical functions as necessary.
Technology Requirements Faculty members are expected to have a personal computer with virus protection and Internet access. Walden University provides a Walden e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, university and college listservs, and other faculty communications tools. Software requirements include a current Web browser, Microsoft Office, Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash Player, Apple QuickTime, Windows Media Player, antivirus software, and prompt installation of updates. Software versions are subject to change.
Additional Information In support of pay transparency laws, the expected compensation rate for this position is as follows:
Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on course type and length
Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on course type and length
Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as course type, experience, location, licensure, and market factors.
