About IPSD:

Caterpillar’s

Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD)

designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary:

As an

Engineering Specialist

for the Aftertreatment Systems Engineering group, you will be part of a cross-functional, high performing team and develop products that make our world cleaner by meeting new and existing emissions regulations. You will work with industry leading experts to solve problems and deliver high quality, compliant emissions control components and systems. You will collaborate with a global team to develop innovative solutions while strengthening your analytical skills and mastery of engineering concepts. You will contribute to the planning and delivery of projects, continually learn and stay abreast of the latest technology, and broaden your professional network.

What You Will Do:

Lead aftertreatment validation activities across design, systems integration, and controls teams.

Develop and maintain FMEAs (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) and DVP&Rs (Design Verification Plans and Reports).

Organize and bridge aftertreatment validation plans across component, engine system, and software controls teams to ensure cohesive execution and alignment.

Develop and coordinate validation protocols. Ensure alignment with product requirements and industry standards.

Assess validation readiness and evaluate risks. Summarize and report validation readiness at program gateways.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical issues and improve validation processes.

Stay current with regulatory standards and validation best practices.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems:

Level Extensive Experience: • Evaluates business impact of failure and the criticality and timing of needed resolution. • Resolves difficult or high‑impact equipment and systems problems. • Monitors machine performance and history; addresses excessive maintenance or repair needs. • Coaches others how to resolve integration or communications problems in multi‑vendor environment. • Applies specific techniques for isolating a problem and defining resolution approach. • Uses advanced diagnostic techniques and tools for unusual or performance‑related problems.

Additional Information:

This position is located in Mossville, IL and requires a 5‑day‑a‑week onsite schedule.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Travel: Up to 10% travel expected

Summary Pay Range:

$126,000.00 - $189,000.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
