Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc. Solar Turbines, a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc., is looking for a qualified Senior Principal Project Engineer to provide Balance-of-Plant (BOP) Engineering and Design oversight and direction for projects utilizing Solar’s family of turbomachinery. Responsibilities

Oversee Balance of Plant (BOP) engineering and design (structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation) for projects using Solar gas turbine generators and compressors. Technically manage projects or proposals, including gas compressor stations, power generation and co-generation facilities, offshore Single Lift Modules for both compression and power generation, and Modular Building Solutions (CMPB). Collaborate with project manager, supply chain, document control, and Solar Turbomachinery to ensure technical project execution. Interface with Sales Management, Construction Services, TurboFab, Turbomachinery Engineering, Customer Services, and Procurement; external interfaces include customers, engineering firms, subcontractors, and suppliers. Travel to fabrication sites, installation sites, and customer facilities as needed. Maintain flexibility to meet deadlines and support occasional business travel; work in the United States and travel internationally; US passport preferred. Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required; Structural or Chemical Engineering acceptable; Master’s degree preferred. Professional Engineering license is a major plus. 10+ years in leading engineering activities for large, complex oil and gas projects, preferably involving Solar equipment. Familiar with ANSI, ASME (B31.3, B31.8, Sect. VIII, D2), ASTM, API, NEC, IEC (basic), NFPA codes; international coding experience desirable. Proficient with MS Office 365; strong problem-solving and communication skills; 6-Sigma background is a plus. Experience with fabrication yards or facilities and knowledge of mechanical equipment (turbines, compressors, generators). Ability to identify risks (technical, budget, scheduling) and develop mitigation strategies. Other Requirements

Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency. Travel domestically and internationally as required; field support during fabrication, installation, commissioning, and start-up primarily at Solar’s TurboFab facility in Channelview, TX. Facilities design/construction/operations experience a plus; reading/writing technical Spanish is a major plus. U.S. citizenship or Green Card required; visa sponsorship not offered.
