Overview
Position:
Residential Counselor for our Calabrese Youth Center, 24 hour Residential Services. Location:
Laradon, 5100 Lincoln St., Denver, CO. Application Deadline:
until filled Schedule:
Sun-Wed 6am-4pm (hybrid between the School and CYC) or Friday-Sunday overnights 6pm-6am. Part-Time weekend shifts available. Starting Salary Range:
$24.00/hr-$28.12/hr. ($0.50 weekend differential and $1.00 bilingual/Spanish differential) Responsibilities
Plan and implement daily activity schedule. Supervise and assist the children/youth with medications. Train, and assist as necessary, children/youth in shopping, cleaning, money management, hobbies, personal hygiene, etc. Provide direct counseling and training services to children/youth. Oversee health and welfare of children/youth and report concerns and progress to program manager. Facilitate groups on a daily basis (anger management, self-esteem, etc.). Provide 24-hour supervision to children/youth. Ensure facilities are clean, safe and orderly. Attend Youth Center staff meetings. Implement behavior programs. Assist with recreational activities. Perform Safety Care techniques, as needed. Train children/youth in use of community resources (RTD, laundromat, banks, restaurants, etc.). Execute duties according to rules and regulations of licensing agencies. Drive participants as necessary for program needs. Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Documentation, as required. Other duties as assigned. We do not offer benefits for our Part-Time staff. Training and development
Orientation Mandatory Reporting First Aid/CPR Safety Care/Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Defensive Driving Person Centered Training Qualifications and requirements
Valid driving license, good driving record, and reliable transportation (preferred). Be at least 21 years of age. Ability to communicate well with children/youth, staff and parents. Two years of college education, or high school diploma/GED plus one year of experience in human services field. Physical requirements include the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force; ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; stamina to be on feet and active for full work days; frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds; must pass Safety Care training and pre-employment physical examination.
